yup.... The decision will come down to $$$ with the FO. Is one Tucker worth two MoBros ? I think we free him up to look elsewhere, then consider the market price tag. No way we sign him if we need the space for Bled and whoever else McDo thinks we need. Really, the guy would be an excellent bench man.
I think the comparison to Matt Barnes is spot on. They are both hard nosed defenders who don't take crap and play with a chip. They have their limitations but excel in areas enough to overlook the inevitable brainfart....and as with this yr, playing for a contract. Barnes always seems to be playing for a contract. Brain farts add up apparently.
The only reason I don't like the. Barnes comparison, is Barnes has turned into a goon. Often he seems to be looking to make the dirty play. Tucker isn't like that at all. Tough as nails, sure, but within the rules of the game. Bowen is more like Barnes. Both often look for the dirty play, which seems like intent to injury a player rather than stay within the rules. Also Bowen was allowed to full on grab guys with both hands, and that was somehow fine defense.
The Tucker hate I really don't understand, except when he does try to do too much.but that isn't every game, and it sure isn't every possession he has the ball. Some seem to forget his tip in, after Goran missed an easy one down the stretch. Moreover, Morris missed three free throws as well. I don't know why Tucker didn't pass it to Goran. Maybe he felt the defender had the spacing cut down, maybe he thought he would ruin the pass, or maybe he thought he had an easy basket because the defender gave him space. Overall, he only had one turnover, and we had guys throwing the ball right to Wiz players, Plumlee did it twice, and once down the stretch.
It was a poorly played game all around. Too many offensive rebounds given up, and way too many turnovers. The Wiz just outplayed us, and seemed to want the win more than we did.
