Jeffers released, Shannon Brown signed

Post#1 » by Nolan » Sat Feb 1, 2014 4:59 pm

http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2014/02/01/spurs-release-jeffers-sign-shannon-brown-to-10-day/

The Spurs have released Othyus Jeffers and signed veteran free agent Shannon Brown to a 10-day contract, the team announced Saturday.

Brown, 28, will be available for tonight’s home game against Sacramento. He last played for Phoenix in 2012-13, averaging 10.5 points in 23.8 minutes. Brown had previously played for Cleveland, Chicago, Charlotte and the Lakers with a career scoring average of 8.1 points.

Jeffers was picked up on a 10-day deal out of the Developmental League after the recent wave of injuries that sidelined Kawhi Leonard, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green. He scored seven points in four appearances.

I like the pickup. Jeffers was alright, good hustle guy but Brown will help us on both ends.

I've never had a problem with Shannon Brown. He was always a pain in the ass with the Lakers. Hopefully he can become our pain in the ass. I'm not expecting much, if he had alot left someone else would have picked him up by now.
I liked what little I saw of Jeffers but I guess Pop didn't. Anyone somewhat athletic looks good to me at this point though.

Not a bad pick up at all. Brown has always been a handy rotation player.

Hustles on both ends with athleticism to burn.

OMG I just find out the Spurs just signed this garbage called S.Brown. Really I've never seen more egoistic player with such a less skills and one of the lowest BBIQ like him. But it will be interesting to see what pop can do with him. I think Pop will never sign another deal with Brown when He saw him on the court playing for himself. Anyway you are quickly realize what garbage player he is and will cursing the day when He wore Spurs Jersey. Book it!

No wonder he's having trouble staying in the NBA. No room for "egoistic" players in this league.

Not sure if serious or just trollin'

You are aware this was a 10 day contract right. We have Nooooooo wing players atm and there are literally no consequences in signing him.

I'm starting to wonder who is the best SF in the D-league. We need a SF, and we're signing 6'5'' Othyus Jeffers and 6'4 Shannon Brown. What we need isn't another SG size players. If anything, we need the best defensive SF in the D-league. Just anybody above 6'6.

I'd like to see us give Devin Ebanks or Dominic McGuire a shot. Both bigger guys who provide energy and defense.

No but he's looked pretty average in the D-league so far.

No man, I'm not trolling. I was really surprised You signed him. I forgot Manu is injuried. The best thing is his 10 days contract.
S.Brown is a cancer and egoistic player who think He is another Kobe. He likes iso and hero ball as often as it can be. I saw every Suns games in last 2 years and I can say that He could be a good addiction but He doesn't like and want sharing the ball. It was very often when He made 1-2 baskets He activated chucking mode. Even some1 was wide open He prefers to shot from very tough position than pass the ball. Really annoying.
He is athletic - true - but He prefers chucking jumpers than drive to the basket.
I saw He played 4 min yesterday, too short time to say something about his play, right?

Well he doesn't have a guaranteed contract so if he wants to keep getting paid in a week he'll have to calm down and buy into the system.

I have a feeling it's a stop gap solution anyway.
They'll probably sign him to another 10 contract. Give manu and Leonard to get closer to being back on deck and then we'll waive him.

If pop can handle Big Dog Robinson, I'm sure he'll manage with Shannon Brown.

Good luck Shannon in New York. He really didn't show anything here with us. I'm even surprised he got a call from another team considering what he shown here.
