We have the talent & coaching to beat anybody; it's just a matter of building consistency, playing within the system on both ends of the floor, and maintaining a strong chemistry on and off the court. Those things don't happen with player turnaround.
In my mind, we're adding JJ Redick and he isn't costing us anything. That's good enough for me. I'd love to add a solid backup big, but we aren't going to get anyone great dangling guys like Mullens or even Dudley. It would cost the few assets we have - Bullock, future picks, etc. And I certainly don't want to lose Willie Greene. He's a very underrated part of this team's makeup. When a veteran like that comes in day in and day out, does his job, and doesn't complain if he sits for 10 straight games, that sets the tone for the other guys. It's hard to complain about getting pulled for a few minutes when Willie Greene is still there in a great mood and ready when he's needed.
Now, we do still have the Bledsoe trade exemption, so if we can get a guy with that and/or a second rounder, I'm all for it. But this talk of guys like Varejao and Landry just isn't realistic.
you are not alone in this corner.
i don't dislike the idea for Carl Landry, but i highly doubt the kings would want to trade unused PF at 6.5 mil per year for the next 4 years to swap for a even lesser useful SF at 4.5 mil for the next 4. Mullen's have a option he will certainly take, so other than 1 million dollars in salary difference between the parties involved in Cracka's proposal, i don't see much benefits that would motivate kings for such a deal. they are probably not looking for talent in return, but I am sure salary relief for an expiring would be a great deal of interest for them. on the other hand, that trade idea would bring in extra 1 million with 1 roster spot still needs to be filled. vet min and you've got another million-ish. that's now 2 more millions pass the lux tax for DTS. the cheapskate has gone past that line, barely, but doubt he would go 2 more extra to add a bench player with that kind of salary and years.
to add Anderson Varajao, now we are talking dudley plus Jamal. to lose Jamal and add mr. glass? do not want.
what we need is a legit 3rd big who can rebound and play some defense in the low post. that guy is still available. and lives in LA. once the pretty boy's 10 day is up, i hope Doc picks up the phone and call Lamar Odom to join this team and fill out the final roster spot.
ehhhhh f it.
