We're better off with Jennings and KCP.

Middleton is playing well and good for him, but come on, someone on that talent deprived Bucks squad has to put up numbers. Sure, he'd probably be more productive for us than Gigi right now, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over losing Middleton.

Middleton is better than anyone we have now at the 3. I knew he had this potential and then some.

well, if you wanna go that route, what you said is honestly debatable lol. I'd much rather pay middleton peanuts to spread the court than pay smith 14 million a year to literally exponentiate all of our flaws.

AND middleton might just be a better SF than smith.

"Knight has also significantly cut his turnover rate, and upped his assist rate, and is getting to the line much more too,"

What?

2011 2.6
2012 2.7
2013 2.8

If you are talking about A/T ratio, he's ranked #121 in the league. He's #53 in assists per 48 among PG's, so that makes him worse than every starter and nearly every backup. The fact that this is an improvement for him just shows how badly he sucks at playing pg.

Middleton on the other hand looks like a servicable SF. He's knocking down jumpers and playing decent D. Let's not get carried away though. He's playing starters minutes on an offensively limited team and still only scoring 11ppg. Obviously we could use that off our bench this year, but there is zero chance he would be starting over Smith.

At the time of the trade, I was kinda hoping we'd send Singler over instead of Khris.

Right, would have rather sent Singler then Middleton. Singler is older, and he is one of those players who looks great on the court, hustling running around, making plays etc., but at the end of the day you look at the stats while he is on the floor and they are mediocre to negative.

Only taking in raw averages doesn't tell the whole story:

Turnover percentage (an estimate of turnovers per 100 plays)
2011-12: 17.1
2012-13: 17.6
2013:14: 14.6

See, improvement.

Simply looking at the number of turnovers Knight gets each game doesn't take into account the significant increase in touches he's getting with the Bucks either:

Usage percentage (an estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player while he was on the floor)
2011-12: 21.7
2012-13: 22.8
2013-14: 26.7

Furthermore, Knight has also significantly improved his assist rate this year too:

Assist percentage (an estimate of the percentage of teammate field goals a player assisted while he was on the floor)
2011-12: 20.8
2012-13: 21.3
2013-14: 28.7

So for him to be getting more touches, and for a higher percentage of those touches to end as assists on buckets for his teammates, and for a lower percentage of his touches to end up as turnovers, that's definitely an improvement.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I love seeing player that I liked on our team start to shine on other teams. Just shows how poor our player development is here in Detroit. Best of luck to B-Knight and Middleton. Both in my opinion will be very good serviceable players and if Knight can get it together on the passing and vision he can be a legit starting point guard.

Middleton looked like he deserved more minutes last year. He looked like a nice role player who was young with room for improvement at a position we need. And moreso when Dumars made moves to give us no shooting range.
I don't get Dumars for being able to grab a nice value like Middleton and then throw him away right before he could be useful. I think giving up Middleton was a case where like 90%+ of the board thought it was bad. It's just weird and a bit annoying.

Let me know when Middleton's play results in wins and then I'll actually break down his game.

Not sure what to say. Middleton would be a perfect backup SF/SG in a decent nine man rotation. Wish we kept him but he had to go for contracts to make the Jennings deal work. Jennings 10 times better than Knight so Id don it again. Knight is Jason Terry 2.0. Sorry guys.

People forget that Terry was actually a pretty good starting scoring point guard during the period he played as one (2002-2006).
