We'll also get the Detroit pick at #15.
one spot away from no man's land, with a bunch of teams all around us. you have to figure that a couple of those WC teams will start to take their foot off the gas once it appears they are out of the running for the playoffs. meanwhile, we will be gunning for the playoffs up until the end. i think if we want to ensure we keep our own pick we would need to drop to at least 10th in the east to be safe. i dont trust staying at 9th.
I agree that to ensure it is safe we should drop as low as possible (if the playoffs are out of reach)
I feel that whether we make the playoffs or not we aren't in no mans land, and either way we will get a top 10 pick imo and most of our core is young (or replaceable) and we have flexibility to make the necessary moves.
The East is so weak that we are only 3 games ahead of Cleveland and it would not surprise me if Detroit, New York and Cleveland passed us.
I don't mean that in a negative way either, but this is a new situation for our young team and we have a rookie head coach which makes holding the eighth seed a difficult proposition.
In regards to the teams direclty behind us or ahead of us in the standings-
Cleveland-Will try to make the playoffs imo-won 4 straight.
New York-Owes pick to Denver-will try to make playoffs.
Detroit-Owes pick to Charlotte-will try to make playoffs.
New Orleans-Owes pick to Philadelphia-will try to make the playoffs.
Denver-Owes pick to Orlando-will try to make playoffs.
Minnesota-Will try to make playoffs.
Memphis-Will try to make playoffs.
Brooklyn-Owes pick to Atlanta-will try to make playoffs.
Washington-Owes pick to Phoenix-will try to make playoffs.
Atlanta-Owes pick to Boston-will try to make playoffs.
Chicago-Owns our pick-will try to make playoffs.
Toronto-Will try to make playoffs.
Golden State-Owes pick to Utah-will try to make playoffs.
Phoenix-May try to tank.
The only teams that own their own pick will try to make the playoffs.
Every other team does not own their own pick and will fight tooth and nail to get to the postseason.
The Detroit pick holds insane value right now.
