Can't say zero percent while Dumars is still employed.

Amare + Shumpert for Smith is the best deal and only deal NY will get for Amare
Jr Smith - Melo - Smith - Chandler is a pretty damn good lineup

At this point, I'd rather have Amare and his contract than Smith/Jennings and theirs....

You'd be resigning our team to bottom feeders for the next season and a half by bringing in a guy with a crippling contract whose career is all but over (and plays a position we have no need at). At least Jennings and Smith can contribute.

That's sort of the 2nd reason to do it. Tank. Lose as many games as possible the rest of this season and keep our pick.
Then next season, Amare could be a huge asset as a GIGANTIC expiring deal. Worst-case scenario, we keep him and take the savings.

I think we've all seen that expirings don't mean much anymore under the new CBA. If they did, folks would be knocking down our door for CV and Stuckey.
Given the size of Amare's deal, we'd need to take back another bad expiring or a toxic deal to move him next year -- garbage in, garbage out. That resigns us to being a bottom feeder until 2015/2016 season, which would kill the morale of our team and inhibit the development of our young pieces.

LMAO contribute?
Contribute to what our team barely making the playoffs in a historically terrible Eastern Conference?
Contribute to stunting Drummonds growth and desire to stay in Detroit?
Please.
Amare for Smith would be a godsend for this team

In about 22 hours we'll know if Dumars is 100% getting fired after the season or not by our rotation. If Friday, we see the same starting lineup with Will shooting us out of games and KCP not touching the ball...it's clear what's going on.

Like I said before, the worst-case scenario is we're stuck with Amare thru next season. At which point, we let him and everyone else walk and look to build properly around Monroe and Drummond. Its 100% clear that Smith doesn't fit here. And Jennings has been ok at times, but still too much of a chucker and defensive liability. Cash them in as soon as possible IMO. Addition by subtraction. Start over with a new GM.

Smith for Amare is not what's being proposed (and isn't possible given the salary difference).
They want to dump Jennings (and Luigi) as well. Jennings still has a lot of talent and drive, and is chucking mainly because we surrounded him with an anemic offense that more or less demands he shoot more than he should. Does he need more discipline? Of course. There's a lot of work to be done, but give him a legit SF, some 3 and D wings and a solid coach, and he could still be a top tier PG.
Taking Amare means we can resign Moose, and then do little else. Who is our starting SF for the next season and a half? Who is our starting PG? Singler and Bynum? Please.

Keep in mind that Goodwill may or may not be on the Pistons payroll, so anything he writes could actually be the opposite of truth.

We can make this trade and New York still says yes:
Smith, Bynum, Jerebko, Datome
for
Shumpert and Amare
Trio of trash (Bynum, jerebko, Datome) are making 9M next season and we all know they wont see the floor and if they do (in Bynum's case) will harm our team rather than help.
Since we already are paying 9M to these guys you can subtract that from Amare's deal leaving us paying him only 10M. Amare should be able to give us 10-12 minutes off the bench and Shumpert most likely can be resigned for relatively cheap considering how terrible he has played this season.
People seem to forget that this season we paid Bynum, Jerebko, Billups, Charlie V TWENTY MILLION to sit on the bench and do nothing but now they are going nuts about Amare sitting on the bench doing nothing as well? Come on
