He punked out of the alexander fight because he didn't want to risk the fight with Mayweather. He rolled the dice and came up snake eyes. Its his own damned fault. He fights Alexander and takes his title then a fight with Mayweather has a real buzz. There could be no buzz for a fight with Mayweather after Khan's last two wins.
I'm well aware of the facts of the situation. In hindsight, it looks like a poor decision because he could have increased his stock with a win over Alexander, which would have gave him an edge over Maidana. I just think that there's too much hatred and criticism headed towards his direction because he decided to look out for his best interests. If Mayweather had followed through on his farce poll, none of you guys would be criticizing him for landing the big fight. You would be criticizing the fight for being made(as would I), but you wouldn't have questioned Khan's strategy to make it happen. He was
this close to landing the fight. It didn't happen and he came up short. Sh*t happens. I'm just not going to be one of these fans that craps on a guy for trying his damn best to land a fight with the best fighter in the sport.
Also I don't buy this notion that there would be no real buzz if he hadn't beaten Alexander. Seriously, Mayweather is buzz all by himself, and Khan has a really loyal and large following of British fans. That fight would have made plenty of money either way.
