Damn that was brutal.

All that from Jackson's bad touch all the way down the other end. He's had a really rough game in my opinion.

I've seen too many collapses from TFC since the beginning, hope this isn't one of them.

Terrible second half, but so happy with the 3 points.

It's very hard to win in Seattle.

Conceded an awful lot of possession but not many scoring opportunities. A good start.

When DeRo was subbed out; the entire offence changed and they stopped being aggressive.

Positives:

- Bradley is a machine. Never stops running. You could literally see the Sounders' players wilt when he got near them. He's a class above this league.

- Defoe. No hesitation. Natural nose for the net. Will score ALOT in this league.

- Osorio. Made some nice plays.

- Cesar. Not worried about him making mistakes at all. He's a rock.

- Caldwell and Henry were great in our box, especially on the balls in the air. Henry is going to be the best Canadian defender in a long while. I'm worried he is off to Europe soon. But at least we will get some money to spend :)

Negatives:

-A lot of misplaced passes coming out of the defense. In fact most of the passing was off period. Our guys were turning it over alot, but not by getting stripped, but by passes that were just off the mark. This is something that will improve through practice.

- Rey is a ballhog. At least three times in the box, he held up the ball looking to score when he could have hit DeRo or Defoe, or even back to Bradley or Osorio. I hope he loses the tunnel vision. On the other hand he does have some nice ball handling skills.

- Jackson has good speed but he's weak with the ball. That was his off-side so maybe it was just too much using the weaker foot, or lack of practice.

- Morrow is quick but kind of aggressive. The Seattle goal happened after he over committed on a running tackle and let Martens get wide open behind him. When we're up 2 goals he probably doesn't need to be that tackle happy. Especially since a lot of Seattle's second half game plan was going up that side to begin with. I would have stood off and just make sure Martens stayed in front of me.

- Bloom was as uncomfortable with the ball as I remember him. However like they pointed out Orr will be the starter there, he is just getting fit right now.

Going forward...

- Dero will spell one of Jackson/Rey on the wing, so we won't see too much of both being out there at the same time. Will also keep Jackson to his more natural right side.

- Gilberto will be up in the box, so teams will have to worry about two good threats and not be so aggressive like Seattle was today only worrying about Defoe. Also we should hopefully see a bit more ball possession.

- More practice should see the passing and playmaking come more natural.

- Would like to see us generate a little more of our own offense rather than relying on the counter attack against other team's mistakes. I know that's Nelsen's style, but Bradley/Osorio are good enough to attack on the ground too.

I'm a big NBA fan so I was wondering who you would (roughly) compare Gilberto, Defoe and Bradley to in the NBA in terms of skill?

Thanks!

Defoe - Current day Kobe, nearing the end of his career, not the player he once was but still has some game left.

Bradley - Ginobili, not a star but a good solid player who you want on your team that will help you win.

Gilberto - Senior coming out of college, as he's 24 and has spent all of his career in Brazil. Not quite good enough to leave school early and be a top draft pick, but still is a good talented player, has some upside and is looking to make a name for himself.

I would consider Henry as modern day Kobe and Defoe as modern day Wade maybe?

After his performance today, I will give you that one! 8-)

Besides having good things to say about Defoe is a totally foreign concept for me since he no longer plays for Spurs

Great breakdown.

I thought Jackson looked horrible on the ball most of the game. His first touch was terrible and often led to good things for Seattle.

I think you were a little harsh on Bloom who filled in well in the starting 11. Coming off the bench in the future though like you said will help.

Caldwell won't get the headlines, but was easily one of the best players on the field for us. Stopped many a chance for Seattle and really held the back line together.

Jackson's first touch outside of the box when Bradley flew down the wing and passed it to him wide open was simply atrocious

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. I also thought DeRosario looked pretty tired out there. He kept falling after long runs and challenges, looked like his legs were rubber. I'll chalk it up to it being the first game but hopefully he hasn't started is inevitable decline due to age.

Could also be the fact that we had to play on Seattle's terrible turf to start the season. Likely not great on DeRo's knees.

I think DeRo will look a lot better back in Toronto.

Hopefully Nelsen uses him right. I'm sure Gilberto will get his minutes but keeping Dero fresh and healthy and using him in spurts could prove to be huge, especially when we lose Bradley for the WC.

Great start, a lot of fun to watch.

I also think we'll see DeRo used a lot more for the Canadian Championship and (hopefully) Champions League.

That will give Dafoe and Gilberto a bit of a rest midseason.
