Positives:
- Bradley is a machine. Never stops running. You could literally see the Sounders' players wilt when he got near them. He's a class above this league.
- Defoe. No hesitation. Natural nose for the net. Will score ALOT in this league.
- Osorio. Made some nice plays.
- Cesar. Not worried about him making mistakes at all. He's a rock.
- Caldwell and Henry were great in our box, especially on the balls in the air. Henry is going to be the best Canadian defender in a long while. I'm worried he is off to Europe soon. But at least we will get some money to spend
Negatives:
-A lot of misplaced passes coming out of the defense. In fact most of the passing was off period. Our guys were turning it over alot, but not by getting stripped, but by passes that were just off the mark. This is something that will improve through practice.
- Rey is a ballhog. At least three times in the box, he held up the ball looking to score when he could have hit DeRo or Defoe, or even back to Bradley or Osorio. I hope he loses the tunnel vision. On the other hand he does have some nice ball handling skills.
- Jackson has good speed but he's weak with the ball. That was his off-side so maybe it was just too much using the weaker foot, or lack of practice.
- Morrow is quick but kind of aggressive. The Seattle goal happened after he over committed on a running tackle and let Martens get wide open behind him. When we're up 2 goals he probably doesn't need to be that tackle happy. Especially since a lot of Seattle's second half game plan was going up that side to begin with. I would have stood off and just make sure Martens stayed in front of me.
- Bloom was as uncomfortable with the ball as I remember him. However like they pointed out Orr will be the starter there, he is just getting fit right now.
Going forward...
- Dero will spell one of Jackson/Rey on the wing, so we won't see too much of both being out there at the same time. Will also keep Jackson to his more natural right side.
- Gilberto will be up in the box, so teams will have to worry about two good threats and not be so aggressive like Seattle was today only worrying about Defoe. Also we should hopefully see a bit more ball possession.
- More practice should see the passing and playmaking come more natural.
- Would like to see us generate a little more of our own offense rather than relying on the counter attack against other team's mistakes. I know that's Nelsen's style, but Bradley/Osorio are good enough to attack on the ground too.
