What a BS statement. The Jays did a phenomenal job developing Syndergaard. To pretend that he turned into a top prospect under our watch because we simply told him to go out and throw fastballs is beyond insulting.

Maybe the way I phrased it could've been better. Syndergaard has always had excellent numbers, but I have yet to see any pitchers developing into anything more than useful thus far. The development of the lower minors doesn't seem to be the problem. Perhaps it's the AA/AAA development, or perhaps it's the fact we rush them as soon as they reach these levels that's the problem.

Am I wrong or did we end up giving up more for RA Dickey than for Reyes, Johnson, and Beuhrle. I think D'arnaud for Dickey straight up would have been fair and now we pay for it.

"Here’s a snapshot of how high the Mets are on d’Arnaud: Alderson said that he tried to get two specific players from an unnamed team for Dickey, but the team balked. But when Alderson acquired d’Arnaud, the team called back and offered the same two players for d’Arnaud alone. Alderson said no, even though the Mets would’ve kept the other players acquired from Toronto."

In other words, yes the Mets milked Anthopoulous for every penny in that trade

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the trade either but let's see TDA do something first FFS.

Cool story.

d'Arnaud is 25 years old, sucked last year with the Mets, is sucking in spring training this year, and was injured in each of the three years prior to that.

Sandy can talk up how much he "valued" him all he wants. He's trying to sell his eager fanbase no differently than Anthopolous is. In this case, he's trying to justify the fact that to date one of his "key acquisitions" has bee a dud.

What does how d'Arnaud is playing have to do with anything? The point is at the time of the trade his value was certainly worth more than what has amounted to a slightly above league average pitcher whose approaching his 40s. But they decided to give up both him and one of the best pitching prospects in baseball for him.

And you don't become a dud after less than 100 at bats

His value according to who?

Some report that Sandy couldn't get x and y for Dickey but then was offered those same two unknowns for d'Arnaud and rejected it?

Who's the mystery team?

Were they allowed to negotiate a deal with Dickey beforehand or were they risking losing him after a season ?

On what basis are you assuming that there were absolutely no other players involved in either suggested deal ?

These would all be fairly important questions to answer before deciding that this is somehow indication that the Mets deal could have happened without Syndergaard as opposed to it just being tire pumpin' on Sandy's part as suggested.
