Not that I want Cauley-Stein or anything. But Cauley-Stein is one of the BPA available at the 10-12th pick range. Personally, I have Kyle Anderson on top of my realistic wishlist with the Pels' pick.

I agree. I'm not a huge fan of Cauley-Stein... but i think he is one of the best values at our pick (11-12?) so either we take him, or we trade down a little because I think he'll have value. Heck, I think he'll have some really good work outs he might go higher.

I don't think he'll sniff the lottery but even so he's a terrible fit with Noel

Joel Embiid is leaving Kansas and will enter the NBA draft.

Cauley-Stein really isn't someone we should consider unless he has a period of enlightenment from now till the draft. He lacks anything that resembles an offensive game.

If I'm being honest, I really don't know how badly I want Embiid anymore. I feel like when you tank as hard as the Sixers did, you need to come away with a big splash and more of a "sure thing" as far as franchise player is concerned. With Embiid, there is now an injury to be worried about, as well as the whole "potential vs. production" argument. Maybe I'm just severely scared of a big man with an injury, and I just need someone to talk me off the ledge.

But as far as I'm thinking, I'd like to see Wiggins or Parker out of the draft. Anything else would be disappointing. However, I wouldn't hate Randle, Embiid, Exum. I just wouldn't be as pleased.

The sixers will thoroughly check out his back so if we draft him they think it is fine. One injury isnt the end if the world. He must feel it'll hold up in testing or he wouldn't have entered.

Can anyone enlighten me on the severity of Embiid's back injury? I'm missing something here. Everyone is freaking out about how it will impact him long-term, yet there was a legitimate chance he could have played in the next tourney game had Kansas advanced.

Right now, I'm hoping either..

1.) Someone slips because people starts selecting team needs over BPA.
2.) Hinkie will pull a "MCW" move where he'd select a guy where most GM can't look past his flaws.

Because right now, like you said, picks 9-14 sucks. And that's also the reason why I don't want to talk or even do a research about Vonleh because comparing Vonleh to a guy like Cauley-Stein is pretty depressing.

For now, realistic BPA options at the Pels' pick for me are..

Tier 1: Kyle Anderson and Tyler Ennis (most promising with low downside)
Tier 2: Doug McDermott (enigma for me. High risk high reward for me.)
Tier 3: Jusuf Nurkic (safe but low ceiling)
Tier 4: Cauley Stein, Cappela and Gary Harris (potential back-ups)

In the end I think Hinkie will go with Kyle Anderson. He really feels like the "MCW" of this year's draft where people will focus on him being unathletic and not being a good shooter. Then you go a little bit back, and remember how Hinkie and co. made that pick for Royce White? Royce and Kyle plays almost the same way.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

On a Per 40 Minute basis, Embiid is as productive across the board if not more so than any other draft prospect. He's similar statistically to guys like Ewing and Olajuwan in their freshman years. The back injury is fairly disconcerting, but there are teams out there now probably kicking themselves for not taking Noel in the top five and he had a gruesome ACL tear. I'm personally thrilled to hear he is declaring and would be ecstatic if we were to land him, even if Wiggins or Parker would be the better "fit".
"Bob Cooney was on Fox Philly news last night with Howard Eskin and he said some GMs don't like Hinkie because he doesn't follow the "old boys club rules". He mentioned Hinkie doesn't return some of the other GM's phone calls."

It's an overuse injury. My guess is Joel's frame hasn't had time to recover and adapt to the forces associated with basketball. Our bones adapt to the forces we put them under, its called Wolffs Law. He just started playing the sport a few years ago and has been playing a lot in that time span. There probably wasn't much recovery time like he is getting now. All that running and especially jumping on hardwood puts a lot of force on the lower spine, and that's where he had the fracture. Also add in the fact that he never played the sport before a few years ago. With proper rest Joel will fully recover. With proper and smarter training it won't be a problem for his future.

I openly admit I'm biased, and I've never liked him but I just can't get on board with Embiid

After having Bynum sit out an entire season, and Noel sit out an entire season, I don't have willpower to do this for a 3rd season with these fragile big men

I want a wing or a SG.

Unfortunately, huge human beings have injury problems. It's just something teams have to deal with.

I think Milwaukee still takes Embiid #1.

I'd have absolutely no reservation taking Embiid. Noel and Embiid would be a very very fun combo for years to come. Honestly, I'm on board with Parker, Wiggins, Embiid, and the little I've seen of Exum (can't teach that speed).

Completely unrelated note: Delon Wright is coming back for his senior year. Utah should be pretty scary next year.

Just need the lottery to work it's magic and the Sixers will be leaving the draft with Wiggins or Embiid.

That's a successful season, gents.

Embiid adds depth to the top of the draft even if we don't choose him or don't have a chance to, that is the big thing. Till we know our draft spot it is all total speculation, but since 5 is our worst cae scenario we are now almost guaranteed to get one of Wiggins, Embiid, Exum, Randle or Vonleh. Still have to wait for Wiggins and Randle to declare, though that is very probable, and hope that none of them, especially Embiid, fail the physicals so badly that they don't deserve the high pick. Adding parker to the mix makes things even better, but I am comfortable with those top five now, though obviously number 1 is where I want to pick.
