Depending on the belt/drive system, grease could be bad. Grease and dirt can get into a tract and fill the grooves, causing it to slip (sounds like whatever gear is turning is hit the a the track over and over like a playing card on a bike spokes).


Source: some idiot technician greased the tracks of an cmm machine at work and it still does this from time to time to this day.

He was insane dude... He had the potential to be the best player on the field on any night in two sports...

He wasn't always the best, but he was always one of the top players and he had a level of explosiveness that I'm not sure I've seen before or since...
