He continues to be a phenomenal signing whatever your feelings of EG, especially when he's playing defense. Oh, and honorable mention to Gortat, he was solid all game long and had some big defensive plays.
Exactly. Look at the good Grunfeld has done and not always focus on the bad. All of his moves were not necessarily terrible.
I think the best thing that can be said about EG is that he managed to salvage
more of a bad situation
that he himself created than one might have expected.
The problem with that is that he has sacrificed future assets to do it and
is now counting on really old players going forward. Miller and Gooden are
getting him by right now. Gooden could leave and Miller is old as dirt. I would
say Miller is a danger to break down physically except that has not been his
history at all. He is a clear liability defensively though. That said, I think
Miller will help in the playoffs when we have to play half court. Better
roster building in the past wouldn't have made those deals necessary.
We know the story on EG. The history of record as GM is still what it is, 3rd worst
in the league during his tenure at least through this year. 45 win peak season.
