Steve Nash for Roy Hibbert

Post#43 » by Kobe System » Wed May 7, 2014 9:20 pm

Steve Nash (expiring), Kendall Marshall + filllers for Roy Hibbert.

Indiana needs a play maker. Expiring contract for Hibbert. (If they are ready to give up on him)

We hope to revive Hibbert's game.

Who says no.

lmao even if they were ready to give up on him they could do 100x better than a D-League player and an expiring. hibbert isnt going to be bad forever.

Couldn't do that before FA in July...would need to agree on a contract with Monroe, agree to a s&t with Detroit (and Monroe) and then draft eachothers players and then trade their rights. Would have to be a handshake deal, but I don't recall of one like this with that time frame in between. That's a gamble for sure. If anyone remembers a situation where this happened I'd like to know just to see if it's plausible.

Gm's don't have the memory of a fish although some fans do lol...we can't disregard what Hibbert has done the past few years and all this year until recently. Obviously something is up, we don't know what that is, just rumors and speculation.

However, look at him tonight...he may be getting out of this funk. The dude is a legit center with post skills, mid range shooting and top notch defense. If he was here working with Kareem...he'd be the best center in the league hands down. He'd be just as good as Bynum before he was traded for that s.o.b...maybe even better because he'd be injury free.

Larry Bird isn't stupid, therefore a dude like Hibbert would cost us the lotto pick and likely have to be a 3 team deal since they wouldn't be interested in a player fresh out of college imo.

why would we try to sign and trade monroe when we can just outright sign him without trading anything? doesnt make sense.

Haha! You're right. I was carried away on how bad he is playing lately (He is playing great tonight). How about is we throw our first pick (6th to 7th). Will that be fair for Indiana? Should we offer that trade.

lol it happens ... But yea, if we offered that pick to a 3rd team, it would depend on what Indy would get in return. If it was like a 6th pick/TPE or Nash to ATL for Horford and Horford to Indy for Hibbert to us, I could see that. However, if I'm Larry Bird, I'm probably not trading Hibbert for anything...I don't think he does in real life either.

Why not get Chicago's pick for 1 year of Boozer?

*Disclaimer* this is just a fantasy but within reason so endulge me for a minute and let me know IF it works out as such would you guys consider these scenarios...

Get #1 pick, Phil gets pushed to #3
LA-#3 and #10
Phi-#1 pick
Wiggins or Parker is supposedly going #1/2, we still get the player we want in #3 (exum, embiid), I dont think Wiggins/Parker are franchise game changers on the lvl of a Lebron or Durant anyways, so I dont feel that moving back 2 spots would kill us if Phi was deadset on getting Wiggins.

this is followed by
Sac-10th, tpe
LA-7th, J. Thompson

-we move up 3 spots for aborbing a decent PF, yes he makes 6mill for the next 3 years but if we gona lose Hill, Thompson would make a solid big off the bench. With thompson on board, we still have enough to offer a player a salary within the 10-15mill annual range.

so we add 1 solid big off the bench and possibly 2 assets for the future, I assume 7th pick if we took Embiid at 3rd, we take a PG for the future at 7th.

btw i was right, you cant sign and trade RFA, they have to play 1 year for the team they signed with.

so we cant sign and trade monroe.

If Lakers don't get a top 3 pick, would you guys consider trading Steve Nash and the 6th pick to Boston for Rajon Rondo and the 17th pick?

Lakers could then try to sign one of the better SF free agents this summer.. Deng, Ariza, or Carmelo..
Resign Pau, and the draft a young prospect with the 17th. If the Lakers could afford it, then can sign Monroe or just let Sacre start at Center.

Lakers would then have a starting line up of

Rajon Rondo/Farmar
Kobe Bryant/Bazemore
Deng-Carmelo-Ariza/17th pick
Pau Gasol/Ryan Kelly
Sacre/ Free agent

Thoughts?

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
