What do Wolves fans think is a fair offer for Love that both sides might agree to from Boston not including the 2014 6th pick?
There aren't any fair trades that don't include the 6th pick.
This is a very reasonable asking price value wise, but I'm not sure the Celtics would be willing to/want to deal the TPE and Bogans non-guaranteed expiring in the same deal. If they deal for Love, they are going to need to add some talent around him and the TPE and Bogans non-guaranteed deal are critical to that, as we'd be over the cap and need those 2 things to help facilitate S&T's and trades without other teams taking back money.
My guess is Boston is willing to include more picks than your proposal has, and most Celtics fans proposals have (none seem to offer #17 in the deals, mainly because I think they just want something interesting for draft night after dealing #6 but it makes a ton of sense that a rebuilding Wolves team gets that pick over a Celtics team attempting to win now), but is less likely to take on "bad" contracts through the TPE and Bogans in an effort to maintain more options for this off-season. I could see them including Bogans+Pressey+C.Johnson+Babb's non-guaranteed deals to take on Martin, though. He's not really that bad of a contract, and his shooting/scoring would be a nice fit next to Rondo. Ainge has also tried to trade for him multiple times in the past, granted when he was younger and better. But that would be the most salary I could see them taking on without sending $$$ back.
Humphries or Bayless S&T'd to MIN on inflated 1 year deals, Keith Bogans in the Pierce/KG to Nets deal style, could be options. Wouldn't help you this year, but would get Martin + Budinger off your cap after this year. Bayless probably the more realistic option since he's looking at league minimum type offers or a bit above where as Humphries could maybe get full MLE to sign with a contender but if he's getting money to match Martin + Budinger, he might jump too.
My offer/what I could see going down as a possible trade would be something like...
To BOS: Kevin Love, Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger.
To MIN: #6, #17, Nets unprotected '16 1st (not sure the better of the 2 BOS/BKN works because what if Love/Rondo leave as UFA's and we are back in the tank? Pretty embarrassing and horrible for your future to not have your own pick too. Maybe if you put some protection on the BOS side only of the pick, if that's even possible?), Jared Sullinger, Joel Anthony (expiring), Brandon Bass (expiring), Jerryd Bayless or Kris Humphries (S&T, very inflated 1 year deal to match the salaries of Budinger and Martin). Wouldn't rule out you guys getting the PHI '15 1st that is lotto protected and probably more likely to become 2 2nds included in this, either. One of those things that lets a franchise say "we got 4 1sts back", even if it's not neccessarily likely to be true (Bolded for those who don't have the patience for my long winded posts)
Allows BOS to keep their TPE and non-guaranteed deals to improve roster, but still allows Wolves to dump salary (just not until after this year). Is that a fair compromise/alright with Wolves fans?
