So? We get the 6th pick by trading our starting PF. Seems to fit perfectly to me. Cunningham is a free agent and won't be brought back. Sullinger (or Olynik) fits right into the backup PF position.

So? Really? You want to trade Love for a backup PF and #6 pick at PF who has a 30% chance of not even being in NBA in three years?

In my eyes:
1) GSW trade if Lee is sent to 3rd team
2) Cavs trade if #1 and multiple picks involved
3) Celtics trade
6) Bulls trade

Out of these 4 options.

I don't want to trade Love at all, but if he's going to leave in free agency, then yes, that's the best deal.

In my eyes:
1) GSW trade if Lee is sent to 3rd team
2) Cavs trade if #1 and multiple picks involved
3) Celtics trade
6) Bulls trade.

Thompson, Barnes, and whatever (very) minor value that Lee gets over the 1st pick? WTF?

Right now the 6th pick is unclear there are a lot of things that can happen on draft night like Embiid sliding a bit because of his back issues or Exum getting passed by ORL or UTAH because he didn't workout with them. But I think all Wolves fans agree that the best offer will come on draft night.

Only speaking for myself, but I'd do:

BOS GETS: K.Love + C.Budinger
MIN GETS: 6th pick + J.Sullinger + K.Bogans (exp) + J.Anthony (exp) + B.Bass (exp)

BOS GETS: K.Martin
MIN GETS: TPE + Better of Brooklyn or Boston 2016 1st

There aren't any fair trades that don't include the 6th pick.

You are probably right on the 6th pick but in all honesty I guess I'm so patient I'd be willing if I was the Wolves gm to in your trade suggestion to substitute 2014 Boston #17, 2018 Nets pick, 2015 Clippers pick and the other 2016 pick for the #6 pick in a heartbeat. As a Celtic fan I wouldn't want Ainge to do that, however, and I would rather give up #6. A Celtic fan made a good point to me from a PR perspective, in a Wolves Boston deal, MN has to be picking higher then Boston this year. It just wouldn't look right otherwise. So, I guess including #6 facilitates the deal since unlike all of the other future picks, it is a known quantity.

As a Celtics fan, I'd probably do this trade or something very close to it especially if I could trade Rondo to the Lakers for perhaps #7 and Nash or to the Kings for #8. If Boston can't get anything good for Rondo, quite honestly I want the Celtics to bow out of the Love sweepstakes since I just don't feel their is enough assets/players left to build a true contender with Love. It wouldn't be the fault of Love but just a reflection on the rest of the Boston roster.

Parker or Wiggins

Top three pick baby. Anything less is uncivilized.

As much as I like this for Minnesota, it's important to remember that Bill Simmons is an idiot and his fantasy trades should never be taken seriously by anyone ever.

That's Love's value though. Best rebounder in the league, elite shooter, durable, getting better every year and only 25 y.o. to boot. Plus analytics absolutely love him and they rule in today's NBA.

This is a very reasonable asking price value wise, but I'm not sure the Celtics would be willing to/want to deal the TPE and Bogans non-guaranteed expiring in the same deal. If they deal for Love, they are going to need to add some talent around him and the TPE and Bogans non-guaranteed deal are critical to that, as we'd be over the cap and need those 2 things to help facilitate S&T's and trades without other teams taking back money.

My guess is Boston is willing to include more picks than your proposal has, and most Celtics fans proposals have (none seem to offer #17 in the deals, mainly because I think they just want something interesting for draft night after dealing #6 but it makes a ton of sense that a rebuilding Wolves team gets that pick over a Celtics team attempting to win now), but is less likely to take on "bad" contracts through the TPE and Bogans in an effort to maintain more options for this off-season. I could see them including Bogans+Pressey+C.Johnson+Babb's non-guaranteed deals to take on Martin, though. He's not really that bad of a contract, and his shooting/scoring would be a nice fit next to Rondo. Ainge has also tried to trade for him multiple times in the past, granted when he was younger and better. But that would be the most salary I could see them taking on without sending $$$ back.

Humphries or Bayless S&T'd to MIN on inflated 1 year deals, Keith Bogans in the Pierce/KG to Nets deal style, could be options. Wouldn't help you this year, but would get Martin + Budinger off your cap after this year. Bayless probably the more realistic option since he's looking at league minimum type offers or a bit above where as Humphries could maybe get full MLE to sign with a contender but if he's getting money to match Martin + Budinger, he might jump too.

My offer/what I could see going down as a possible trade would be something like...
To BOS: Kevin Love, Kevin Martin, Chase Budinger.
To MIN: #6, #17, Nets unprotected '16 1st (not sure the better of the 2 BOS/BKN works because what if Love/Rondo leave as UFA's and we are back in the tank? Pretty embarrassing and horrible for your future to not have your own pick too. Maybe if you put some protection on the BOS side only of the pick, if that's even possible?), Jared Sullinger, Joel Anthony (expiring), Brandon Bass (expiring), Jerryd Bayless or Kris Humphries (S&T, very inflated 1 year deal to match the salaries of Budinger and Martin). Wouldn't rule out you guys getting the PHI '15 1st that is lotto protected and probably more likely to become 2 2nds included in this, either. One of those things that lets a franchise say "we got 4 1sts back", even if it's not neccessarily likely to be true
(Bolded for those who don't have the patience for my long winded posts)

Allows BOS to keep their TPE and non-guaranteed deals to improve roster, but still allows Wolves to dump salary (just not until after this year). Is that a fair compromise/alright with Wolves fans?

Well, the problem is that CLE rumored offer will be better. When it comes to imaginary trades so i'd consider these two options:

1) if OKC fails (get swept vs SAS) so I'd offer Love for Ibaka + Lamb + #21 + #29
2) if GSW insist I'd offer Love + Budinger for D.Lee+Barnes+Klay Thompson

I think its far more likely that the Boston rumors are true then the Cavs rumors. If the Cav's do offer us #1 there is really no other route to go. If not then that Boston trade is at the top of my list. I can't see OKC doing that, but that would be a good move for us, if they were to offer.

Bill Simmons is an idiot but for fun here are his trades for Love.

1) CLE : #1 , Bennett, 1st 2015 (then MIN can send #1 for PHI's #3 + #10 and with #3 pick Wiggins or Parker)
2) BOS : #6, #17, 1st '15 BOS, 1st '15 LAC, Sullinger, Bogans , Bass
3) CHI : #16, #19, Gibson , rights to Mirotic
4) GSW : Love + Martin -> Lee + Thompson + Barnes

what would it take the Celtics to get Dieng in a Kevin Love package from Minnesota ?
Another pick and Olynyk?

Getting Dieng cheaply allows them to spend money on other positions or go after Lance Stephenson as an FA.
A Brookyln pick and Kelly Olynyk?
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

It would probably take something close to the #6 just to get Dieng. That's seems ludicrous, and it feels ludicrous to even type it, but I think that's probably the reality of it.

He's a starting quality center on a very cheap rookie deal for 3 more years.

So we take Cleveland's awesome deal with #1, #1 next year and Bennett. Bennett May be a lame duck now but we lose nothing trying with him

Trading to Philly seems unlikely cuz they giving up 3(the pick who takes last of the three) and addition pick to do same thing wolves would do and take best available at 3.
But fleecing Cleveland and then fleecing philly would already put flip in the hall of fame. Period. All give golf claps now.

If we go with boston or Chicago. They both know we want picks and future picks and prospects. Boston can give us young a talent. And f INg Chicago can amnesty boozer and just absorb love and keep Gibson. And send us both picks this year, and picks next year and mortic (sp). Or we move on.

And with golden state. Barnes and Thompson and next years pick. Or we hang up phone and tell them about this place called Cleveland where number one picks grow on trees.
If we take lee they pay us more. If they find a third team to take lee ( lol now together please) the. We enjoy a pick from third team.

Bottom line is there is enough want in love that we can trade him. Okc has to be desperate to trade their guys and would have to pay more than everyone cuz they in our division. Be real. U want to see love 4 times a year. ? :banghead:

So flip is the man right now. He has love to give. And the world isn't chatting anything else except the wolves. So draft night we have expectations. It's love gone or a star here to keep love. Period.
