Dude hits 90% from 3 in practice, 44% in games. I expect him to remain the best shooter in this draft. And he can dribble. And he can pass.
LaVine might never learn how to make his teammates better, something Stauskas can step in and do right now. LaVine also may never become a knock down 3 pt shooter. He can dribble better than Stauskas, I'll give him that. But if he doesn't know what to do with the ball, he won't see the light of day on the floor.
Y'all keep tryna compare freshman versions of Lavine and Young to a sophomore version of Stauskas. Stauskas only averaged like 11 a game as a freshman before breaking out this year. Both Young and Lavine would've did the same thing had they stayed another year. Granted, Stauskas is going to be a 40% 3 point shooter but I just don't see him being a 20 ppg player in the league, maybe about 15 in his best years.
I don't think that anyone is arguing with you that Lavine and Young have more potential than Stauskas. But just because they could be better doesn't mean that they will. There is certainly more risk in taking either of them than Stauskas. You are talking like it is a certainty that Lavine and Young will be great while Stauskas will be average.
Naaw, I'm talking from the standpoint of wanting to draft a player that has potential to be better than Kemba and Jefferson. I want that alpha dog player that might lead us to a championship and that's worth the risk to me more than just being able to compete enough to make the 2nd round.
