My concerns with his athleticism aren't with an alley oop or a full speed breakaway dunk.

Defensive stop, Defensive rebound, pushes ball full court through 4 defenders, DUNKS on 5th defender. Not athletic enough....
Something something something about how I could do that and score 41 points against ECU.

Agreed. When people can't see that Parker and Wiggins are both excellent in transition then I start to question if they watched them play. They are both great transition players.
The anti-Parker hyperbole comments are getting out of hand.
Also, stop it with the 'I could score 40 against that team' garbage. No. No you couldn't. You couldn't score 40 against 40 year olds at the Y. If you could it wouldn't be at even above 40% shooting.

You backed up your thoughts with numbers and you didn't go totally hyperbole 'Parker is garbage'. I definitely don't agree that Parker is 'brutish' and that he isn't quick in the half court. Watch his highlights against UNC and against Kansas for example. He shows a terrific package of skill-set. One game was early in the year and one game was at the end of the year. I just see a lot of talent and refined skill that I was surprised to see in a college player.

Wasn't Lebron about 240 when he entered the league? Jabari is only 19 and will probably add muscle and play at 250lbs plus easily. I love the size, speed, and athleticism combo (of course I'm not saying Parker = Lebron). With his handles and shot making ability, I hope that Parker can use his size and power in the same fashion that Joe Johnson does to create offense anywhere on the court. Bigger and more athletic Paul Pierce / Joe Johnson...I'll take it.
I think he was closer to 220.

You had a problem with hyperbole, then ironically injected some of your own with the YMCA comment. I'm sure many here have scored 40+ against 20-somes at the Y. I know I have many times, going on streaky 3-point barrages. I'd imagine that's one of the reasons why many of us are here, following a basketball team. Because we are living vicariously thru other dudes who've reached levels we at one point had a little cause to dream of. Dreams don't usually derive without a modicum of reality, at least.
But addressing the point, it shouldn't be completely rendered meaningless regardless of who you post a big game against, however of course the quality of defense and style of game matters greatly when it comes to projecting your gaudy stats. Baddy scored 55 early on his career against Golden State. But it was fool's gold, and I for one never bought it.

JustinCredible wrote:Great job Bernman! I've never played a game at the Y that went to 40 points let alone scored 40 points in a game at the Y. Must do things differently where you are. First team to 41? Anyway....back to the basketball players people care about.

I see your Parker GIFs and raise you Exum at the Nike Hoop Summit.
Also, if you want to see why Parker can't guard the perimeter, watch around 1:14.

That he dribbled up the floor and made a layup? The layup was even a bit of a prayer since he lacked the explosion to finish at the rim. I'm not trying to rip Parker, I like him, but I just find it amusing you guys use that gif as a reason to like Parker when that sort of play wouldn't even make a Wiggins highlight video.

He can hit some jump shots and make some layups. Tried to dunk but missed. I don't exactly see an explosive in-game athlete here for someone that compares themselves to Russell Westbrook.
