The one thing they can't fudge with shoes, wingspan, remained the same. Take these all with a grain of salt.

Since these weren't done at the combine, where are these numbers being released from? Is it just from the player's camps. I'd be quite skeptical.

Awful lot of posters 6'6" + (99th+ percentile) in this thread.

The point of the measuring is to figure out what kind of player you're getting. Someone can wear massive platform shoes to measurements, but would obviously not be able to in a game.

 This x1000.

Though if they're actually measured heights, as opposed to "listed heights", I don't have as much of a problem with in-shoes measurements. Still, separate with and without shoes measurements would be ideal.

what about up to shoulder heights also, for Zach Randolph cases

Lol i had to think about that but yeah, Zach would be about 6'10 had it not been that he was born shaped like a TMNT. No neck and a half shell for shoulders

Either way an inch here or there makes a lot of difference.

In that case wiggins got measured in platforms at the time?

And to all the smart ass responses about how they play in shoes, well no **** and NFL players play in cleats and NHL players wear skates should they get measured wearing those?

There needs to be some uniform standard due to the fact you have some players showing up to these measurements in 2-3" platforms sometimes, i.e. shoes they'd probably trip out of if they tried wearing them on court.

yeah scratch that, i pasted that from somewhere. apparently it's wrong!

probably didn't account other members of this draft.

that's wrong, too. there are a bunch of players in the draftexpress database under 6'9 in shoes with at least a 7' wingspan, from drafts other than the upcoming one.

some notable ones:
Al-Farouq Aminu
Anthony Bennett
Arsalan Kazemi
Melo
Danny Granger
Josh Howard
Kawhi Leonard
Lazar Hayward
Lebron
Lonny Baxter
Marshon Brooks
Coby Karl (in 2006) :o

Also no way Wiggins is 6'9" in shoes.

This is not a 4" difference between Embiid and Wiggins (Embiid and Parker have the same agent, so their measurement could have the same bias. Wiggins is measured on a whole different scale.)

Perry Ellias has been measured many times to be 6'7"-6'8" in shoes: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Perry-Ellis-6288/

Ellis is a hair taller than Wiggins, or the same in the best case: Image

There's no way Wiggins and Parker have almost the exact same wingspan. Wiggins looks like a freak with his long arms.

+1. When someone asks me how tall I am, I never go "well in shoes I'm....."

I'm 6'7 in shoes & that's the height I give to people.

I'm 6'7" in high-heels and that's the height I give to people. Although, in red ruby slippers I'm around 6'4". I always include that if asked.

I always find it funny when some people react like the disparity between barefoot and in-shoes are a huge deal.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fun measurement to have (i.e. Josh Howard being listed as 6'5" in the NBA press kit for years when he's 6'5.5" barefoot) but doesn't really mean jack. In the end, they'll be playing with shoes on.

Hyperdunks made my Achilles sore as hell

What year? Sound like 2010s.

They were the 2013. Most high tops would give me that problem. The lebron's and KD's are low enough in the back that they work a bit better.

I've always had Achilles problems though. I tore my right back in grad school when I was 25 , and my left is prone to tendinosis. I still play in rec leagues, but think about "retiring" - if I tore my left my wife would be pretty salty about having to do all the work, two kids and all. Not to mention the damper that would put on my life in general.

Ain't like they get measured in heels at these combines either, like it's such a big difference from different basketballshoes.. and if they get measured in these shoes at that and that size, I guess they will play in these type of shoes as well, which makes it their ingame height..

I don't think any of the posters mentioned are lying. It is a basketball forum after all. Likely to be some tall people.. I'm somewhere around 6'5'' myself.
