I think DX does a very good job of breaking down why Lavine is such a weak prospect. Plenty of people have argued he should have played a much larger role at UCLA. Okay. His iso and pick and roll numbers are horrific. Beyond that, he made only 17 shots at the rim in the half court in 37 games and rarely got to the line. Those numbers are unbelievably bad for a guy who is a supposed future NBA PG. Beyond the skills, he has major issues in his build. He's remarkably thin at only 181 pounds at the draft camp. He's 6' 4.5" barefoot, but has a standing reach of only 8' 4". Given his basketball IQ, I don't think he has any chance to be a PG, so you are looking at a remarkably thin SG with below average length. His extreme athleticism helps of course, but his lack of bulk and strength is going to be a major concern. I think his max weight is 210, but that is being very generous. I think 200 or so is where he'll be, which puts him at a rather major disadvantage as a wing against NBA athletes.

I do like that his shot looks quite good at such a young age. I also like that he has a very nice handle and good body control. The problem is that he has no idea how to use those skills even at the collegiate level with an absurd athletic advantage. People who are enthralled by his potential, ask yourself why he was so ineffective as an NCAA player despite his world class athleticism, his shot, and his ball handling. He's way behind the curve when it comes to actually playing basketball, and it is much tougher to learn how to play the sport than most people think.

Hell, I'd take Nash and give you Knight.

Sounds good to me. We'd probably buy out Nash, but I'd go see him if we didn't.

I'd keep him around to teach the kids, how many good PGs has he groomed? Let him go in time to hook up with a playoff team ala Caron. Or we could just make him player/ head coach if he wanted.

I think it'd be crazy to let him go, even if it might be the "right" thing in a pc way. He'd be too much of a benefit to the future of Giannis & whoever is taken at #2 (& 7), etc..

That's a good idea. Keep him until it's time for him to latch on with a playoff team. If he plays well, maybe we can even get something back.

Nash could teach Jimmer to be our PG :)

Non sense. No need to just "give you knight", sounds idiotic.

Sanders for #7 and Nash is a done deal. Where can I sign?

#2 - Embiid/Parker
#7 - Smart/Vonleh/Nurkic

Any of those combos is a grand slam and well worth the departure of Sanders. Truthfully I'm even shocked Sanders has that type of trade value.

My favorite combo for 2 and 7 and the starting 5 I'd most like to see next year would be:

Smart/Knight/Giannis/Parker/Henson.

That team would be exciting and fun to watch all the while being the worst defensive team in the NBA giving us a good shot at Jahlil Okafor.

Smart/Knight/Giannis/Parker/Okafor is a poster team for how to properly rebuild.

That backcourt would shoot approximately 10 three pointers with 22 seconds or more left on the shot clock a game.

Nash is already 40 tho. I doubt he plays many more seasons.

With Smart, Giannis, and Henson at C (assuming he protects the rim as good as last year, he's horrid away from the basket), they wouldn't be the worst defensively. But yes, lottery team for sure.

I agree. Bucks could unload a 3 time drug offender with an $44 million contract and no offensive game for Nash and the #7 pick in a loaded draft. Kind of a no brainer wouldn't you think?

Sanders going postal on the Lakers can't hurt. He was arguably the player of that game in Los Angeles and he didn't play a whole lot, all of his impact came on defense, locked up the game by setting the tone in 1 quarter.

That's totally hypothetical and nothing more than an opinion. Larry Drew won't be the coach and Knight won't be the primary ball handler. U have zero idea of what Smart will be like in the pros and I'm willing to say now, that a 3pt chucker is something he won't be.

An actual coach basically kills everything u just said because players that are well coached don't do things like that.

I'd give them Knight as well. Would help make the Laker bandwagoners think they've smoked us in the trade.

It was an over-exaggeration but ok.

No way that backcourt works though, especially if you want Parker/Giannis to succeed. Two ball dominant ball pounders without great vision and questions off the ball next to 2 (hopefully) dynamic, on ball scorers?

I'd like Smart at 7, but it wouldn't be as a point guard and it sure as hell wouldn't be as point guard next to Brandon Knight.

If we somehow did end up with Smart/Parker, I'm definitely playing Middleton at the 2. Space the floor with a catch-and-shoot guy who doesn't need the ball in his hands. If Knight is on the team, he can be the 6th man. Ideally he is moved for an asset.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
