The Spurs would be less successful with Lebron at SF instead of Kawhi Leonard. Their ball movement would give way to isolation ball. Their other contributors would ball watch while Lebron went into hero mode. They wouldn't be as good. Parker wouldn't get them off and running. He would turn into Norris Cole looking for a role.

OTOH a team that is not already elite, such as the Wizards, would improve a lot with Lebron instead of Ariza.

Because LeBron is all about ISO ball??? LOL oh wow. This idea that high IQ players wouldn't or couldn't adapt to a different situation is just plain ridiculous. Taking nothing away from Kawhi, but imagine, just imagine if LeBron is surrounded by guys like Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, etc... Can't we just say San Antonio had more talent and not make this a referendum on anything else?

I think too much talent can actually be a problem. Lebron is an alpha male and somewhat of a diva. Tony Parker makes $12M. He is the highest paid Spur. The Spurs would not remain competetively balanced for long with Lebron.

No team with Lebron is going to have a "We don't care who scores" attitude.

I can't begin to understand why you'd think that. Most of his critics say he DOESN'T shoot enough and criticize him for being too much of a team player.

I agree with Ruzious. I just don't see that in Lebron's game. I see him move the ball, even when there's no chance for an assist. I see him be a willing (and skillful) passer. I see him rebounding, defending, screening, hustling -- doing the dirty work it takes to win. He took a bit of a step back this year on defense, but was still one of the best defensive players in the game.

Whatever team has Lebron is going to win. A lot.

With Philly in a terrible situation now with the Embiid thing I wonder if we can get Noel for Porter + an unprotected 2015 first.

of course Ernie would never admit a mistake like that

You don't think they'd get better offers for the #3 pick?

Nah..just for Noel. I didn't think it through before posting though so it's a pretty bad reach. Mindset is basically them not wanting to draft two injury prone bigs in a row but still want a crack at Embiid due to the next best players available (Smart, Exum) are a poor fit next to MCW. We give them Porter, they draft Embiid, get another 1st for next year.

But I can admit I'd never made that deal as their GM.

And besides that, I doubt Philly wants to go with Simms as their center of the future. They picked Noel probably knowing he was injured, so they likely are eagerly anticipating having him next season.

I think what Philly is going to hope is that Milwaukee likes Exum a lot, so Philly can trade up 1 to still get one of the forwards.

You can not trade picks two years in a row, Plus Noel, is unproven, and injury prone, no thanks! I'd rather have Jordan B in the second round than give up a first next year for noel.

It's not necessarily we don't care who scores attitude it's a we don't care who makes the plays...Lebron needs the ball in his hands...he's not a great off ball type player...everyone other than Tony parker on the spurs is...spurs offense is a rotate to the best shot...lebron is a more of imma get you thr best shot...it wont work with parker cause hes not a shooter...it would barely work with bron because hes not a catch and shoot player...havent really seen him be a cutter cause hes usually a point forward
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft
mike, hakeem and Barkley on the same team!!!!

So, seems like no one wants to touch Larry Sanders.

"Contrary to a report, the market for Sanders is virtually non-existent as he not only has been plagued by off-court issues — he is expected to enter a rehab facility this summer — but will be entering the first of a four-year, $44 million contract next season."

Wonder if they would take Nene? Would we want to go back to the knucklehead era?

Very interesting.

If nothing else, Sanders might be easily obtainable as a fallback plan if Gortat ends up exceeding our price range.

I really think this might be a great "buy low" opportunity. Sanders definitely has some off-the-court problems, but he's a physical specimen on the court so I'm guessing there's not much wrong with his work ethic. I figure those other maturity issues will get better with age. Nene for Sanders would be a great move.

It would make sense for Milwaukee too... especially if (very possibly) Wiggins drops to them and they could land Livingston as a FA PG.

Code: Select all

PG   Livingston     Knight         Wolters
SG   Wiggins        Mayo
SF   GA             Middleton      Delphino
PF   Ilyasova       Henson
C    Pachulia       Nene           Raduljica

That'd be a team going nowhere. Adding Nene and Livingston might get them just enough wins so that they don't get a top 3 pick next season. Getting older and worse is usually not a good plan for a rebuilding team.

Then we could look for a stretch 4. Still, right now we have one FC player under contract (Nene) and the assumption that Gooden will be on the roster. So we if we make the trade, we would still need to add 3 FC players.

I'm hoping for Patrick Patterson, I think Ryan Kelly is worth consideration, and I'm on the fence with McBob.

They do it only if they think it gets them to the playoffs. Livingston won't be very expensive and Nene's contract is up before Sanders (the assumption is that they are done with Sanders).

But yes, it just gets them to a bottom tier playoff team - and that is in the east. They could still sign Livingston and probably be in the same place.

If you could "steal" Sanders and then grab Patterson, that would be fine. But Patterson isn't that great a defender - maybe he would improve in the Wizards schema?

I think another guy to keep in mind is Marvin Williams. He shot 36% from 3 pt territory in that wretched offense they have down in Utah. He's long enough to play the 4, (9'0 standing reach!) not quite girthy enough but that's ok. I don't know if it is the system or Wall, but people shoot the 3 ball well here, I think Williams has an off chance at becoming a 40% stretch 4 here. Patterson was outstanding for TOR however, his syngery with Wall might make him the number 1 target.

I have no problem with stealing Sanders. I don't know what type of rehab he's going through, but its likely caused his trade value to plummet even lower. Patterson is a pretty good defender from what I've seen. His rebounding could be better. But yes, he's a stretch 4 and should (if they sign him) help Wall and the entire offense - and it's nice that he played with Wall at KY.

Another big I'd like to get is Jordan Bachynski (sp?) - a legit 7'2 shot-blocker. People say he's not strong enough, but he weighed in at 254 lbs at the combine - with a reasonable 7.5 body fat, so he's got the frame. He's obviously got issues - 24 years old, lack of great lateral quickness, not a good offensive rebounder - but he's a defensive presence with quick hands and good anticipation.

Marvin Williams is not a star SF as the thought was when he was drafted. I think he has found a productive niche as a stretch-4. If he is available for part of the MLE(leaving enought for an LLE-size deal) I think it would be a great addtion for the Wizards. I would be a bit concerned having both him and Webster on full MLE deals, not that the production doesn't merit it, but making those deals every off-season gets you trapped in the "no-mans" land with just missing the play-offs and early exits if the team does make it.
