Destroyed. I thought Algeria was supposed to be the weakest in this group?

Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Algeria got some really good luck to be where they are group wise.

Ghana sadly no. Cameroon woulda **** the bed in any group honestly, so it worked out there.

they are beating out uefa and afc teams, guess gotta take teams away from those confederations.

Korea is clearly the weakest in the Group. They look like a bunch of high schoolers trying to kick a ball. Algeria is simply too physical and athletic for them.

Uruguay and Italy lost to Costa Rica. They have no excuse.

That's fine, upsets happen. But there is no need to lose two elite teams in the group stage. Instead of losing one of Italy or Uruguay, we also lost England.

The problem with your argument is that they're not elite as evidenced by their results. The seeding system is fine.

don't know much about its players but algeria has a pretty damn good coach, which makes all the difference in tournaments.

They can't keep teams apart on the basis of their reputations. And since they have to set the unseeded pots by confederation, they can't do what they do in the Champions League have each pot be determined by team rankings.

All they can really do is improve the seeding system, which they absolutely need to.

Also, i think you're flattering England a tad. :D

Do you honestly think that Algeria, Nigeria, and a washed up Ivory Coast are going to make for exciting and competitive round of 16 matchups?

Sweden got the tough break of being in the same group as Germany in the UEFA WC qualifier. Greece was in the same situation as Sweden but drew Romania, Sweden drew Portugal who I think are a tad bit tougher than Romania. Bosnia's most difficult teams in their UEFA qualifier group were Slovakia and Greece, they're not Germany.

They lost 2 1 goal games to Portugal.

Put Sweden in over Bosnia and Greece and it'll be a little harder for Ivory Coast/Nigeria. I think most if not all would want to see Sweden over Greece who may go out of this tourney without a goal scored.

I think you're relying too heavily on perceived strength and reputation for your argument here.

You could allow more teams into the WC, but 32 teams is hefty already.

No, what I'm saying is that some groups are a joke and will let sub par teams through into the round of 16, at the expense of more competitive teams.

greece always gets the easiest draws, it is in the by laws of uefa. bosnia absolutely deserved to go over sweden.

They got that because they didn't score a goal in the 2010 WC against England, US or Slovenia.
