Just being rational. New Bucks owners would have to be delusional to give up a 1st round pick when we are rebuilding.
Well, it would be delusional to hire a guy with zero experience as a President. Especially, after watching him backstab the only franchise that truly cared about him. But here we are.
I do think it will end up being 2nd round picks with cash but we deserve a 1st round pick. Sorry but it's true.
1. According to recent reports, Kidd is not being considered for a role as President. He reached out to Milwaukee to express his interest in being the head coach and nothing more.
2. Really? Why does Brooklyn deserve compensation from Milwaukee when Milwaukee is helping to clean up Brooklyn's mess? Compensation really shouldn't be necessary in this case considering Kidd will be fired or paid to do nothing if Milwaukee doesn't go through with this. Milwaukee could simply buy their time by interviewing other candidates for a position that's currently filled anyways and just wait for Brooklyn to make their move. Brooklyn should be happy to get a 2nd round pick for a guy that they want to fire anyways.

We were building around his system. We just drafted three prospects for him to develop. He has possibly sabotaged our ability to re-sign our free agents that were brought in for him. All signs point to this being a possible tampering issue, so why don't we deserve a pick if the Nets were doing everything up to this point for Kidd before Milwaukee ownership got into the mix? Then, there is the option to file tampering charges.
We also don't have to fire him. He can simply be reassigned or paid to stay at home like Lawerence Frank until the Bucks cough up that pick. I'm sure this situation has burned more bridges of trust and awkwardness in the Bucks FO than ours.

The Miami Heat were discovered to have tampered with Pat Riley in 1995 by negotiating with Riley while he was the head coach of the New York Knicks. The Heat "settled," and avoided league-imposed penalties, by compensating the Knicks with $1 million and their first round draft pick in 1996.

Why should Milwaukee have to give up compensation just because you guys built around a coach and then watched that relationship disintegrate? As far as we currently know, no tampering has occurred, and even if it did, it would most likely result in a fine, not a loss of a first round draft pick.

You do realize the Bucks are the reason why the relationship disintegrated, right? Everything was fine up until the meeting on Friday with Milwaukee. He demanded a raise and more power after meeting with the Bucks.
Thursday, he was at the press conference for the new training facility talking about next season. He's at the draft with Billy King and two days later, he wants to leave for Milwaukee only. How are the Bucks not responsible? I understand and quite aware of where the Bucks situation but a 1st round pick is deserving. The Knicks and Celtics received 1st round picks when they had this situation. That's the market for possible tampering charges and that should be where it is now.

So you're saying this Carl guy just luckily predicted that all this would happen on Thursday even though Kidd hadn't met with Milwaukee yet? As far as we currently know, the relationship disintegrated and then Kidd got permission to speak to Milwaukee.
Obviously there could be more to the story, but from what we currently know, this blow up occurred and THEN Milwaukee got involved.

The fact that Kidd would do something like this shouldnt be a surprise. Kidd's rap sheet is well established
- Domestic Violence
- DUI
- Coach killer
- Migraines
- Talking behind the scenes with the Nets while still under contract with NY
He had displayed a level of professionalism that BK wouldnt have taken a chance on. BK has obviously set a priority on trying not to keep irresponsible people around the org. He traded go bads like TWill & Shawne Williams while passing on guys like Chris Anderson because of his baggage. He didnt want Kidd.
In all forms of business you might be willing to put up with some things from top producers that you wouldnt necessarily take from lesser employees. DWill can get away with more then say Alan Anderson. That's life. The thing is that Kidd had ZERO experience. ZILC, ZIP NADA. Why take a risk hiring him with so much at stake?
As the Nets have established time and again; they are more concerned with making the splashy move then making the prudent one. It's why we passed on Ivan Johnson so we could milk all of the press for signing Jason Collins. They hired Kidd to steal the back pages and to market Kidd as the face of the franchise. They put Kidd's face on the Barclay's Center. Not a player but a coach. They retired Kidd's number to kick off his coaching career.
The Russians empowered him every step of the way. Bypass the GM in hiring. The Laurence Frank ordeal. Marketing him as the face of the franchise. Can we really blame him for doing what he did? BKs balls were clipped from the get go and he couldnt even fire Kidd when he was riding a star studded team into the dirt. We see this happen in the NFL with Jerry Jones. The coach is underminded because the players know they can go to Jerry whenever they want. Kidd played the hand that he was dealt and it was a pretty good one. Im surprised that they chose BK over him.
