I'm with some in that I'd rather have our new President hired and make the call on the GM, who in turn could hire the Coach.

You have no idea if he's been strung along.

Right, but it is sure seeming like he won't be back and probably was never in the cards. I highly doubt he would've agreed to stick around if they were upfront in that he wasn't going to be retained. And if they don't plan to fire Drew unless they find a clear upgrade, I don't know how Drew comes to work with a passion for the future knowing they are looking to get rid of him.

I don't think he has many duties at this point.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

i'd honestly like it if kidd were just head coach. i've always thought he'd make a good one, just thought he could've used a few years as an assistant first.

call me crazy, but i think i could really get behind a hammond/morway gm with conditions set that we will build through the draft, and kidd as head coach.

would love to get a complete basketball nerd as POBO.

@NetsStats: Sources: Kidd received a job offer from new Bucks owner Mark Lasry before he made demands to Nets ownership about increasing power in org.

This would not be good... Way ahead of things, but if end up losing 1st rd pick that is devastating for franchises like ours.

I would love the hire of Kidd as the next coach. Get it done!

Hey at least if we lose a first-rounder we can scrap the rebuild and go win-now!

L&E were foolish to think that they could make this deal happen without it leaking to his GM. It's also an unprofessional way to deal with Larry Drew.

We don't know what Larry Drew knows. The owners could've been upfront and honest with him from the get-go.

Just got home and have seen the latest developments, haven't read the thread, but guessing an intelligent poster has already pointed this out....can anyone else name an owner who hired an NBA coach before hiring a GM?? You guessed it, the great Herb Kohl, it appears nothing has really changed at all.

Except you're making assumptions about something none of us know.

I don't know what you guys know about hedge fund brokers but they are brutal. They only care about two things:winning and money. They will do whatever it takes.

Tanking all of next year? Sure
Hiring a new coach before the old one is fired? Yep!

Lasry and Edens don't care about what we think is underhanded or unprofessional. They care about winning and making money. I understand that and love being a part of any organization that feels this way because you will either prosper while going with the ship, or fall off because you were asleep at the wheel.

Two Sources in the media informed me by basic deduction that Hammond & Drew's absence from the intro party at McGillicuddy's meant they had no future with the owners.

Lasry & Edens never said anything to me that Drew/Hammond were goners.

I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult to prove that Kidd and Lasry talked before Friday if we haven't heard anything about them being seen together recently right? Can the NBA do like a legit criminal investigation where they forcibly gain access to phone records and whatnot? lol

I would probably give the Nets a 1st if they agreed to take Jim Paschke.

Wait a second, didn't Gery say Kidd had been offered the team president position? Quite the Buck's insider that guy.

I don't see how there wasn't tampering here. Proving it is a different story though.

Carl2680 predicts all of this goes down on Thursday including the part about Kidd coming to Milwaukee. Then Kidd is granted permission to speak with Lasry on Friday? Kidd made his power play knowing a) it either works and he gets a pay bump + more power or b) he gets out from the BKN mess and starts over fresh with an owner he's friends with plus a talented young roster.

Only thing subject to change is when exactly BKN granted Kidd permission.

Lasry & Edens hire Jason Kidd and they're meddlers just like Kohl because they allegedly didn't let their GM make the decision. Lasry & Edens hire Ettore Messina, David Robinson or some assistant off the Spurs bench and they're facilitators taking our franchise in the right direction.

You have to prove it. Some internet rumor is not proof.

Would you rather have Hammond make the call? Don't think so.

I'd like our new POBO, one with the qualifications to hold the position, to do so.

They want Kidd at SL?
