Jimmy Forums wrote:Taj ain't getting traded; that needs to end now. We invited him to the meeting, so there's three reasons that means we're absolutely keeping him.

1) Jo began the offseason saying that he'll recruit Melo and that his stipulation to the FO was that Taj stayed. Well, here Jo is..bringing Taj to the recruiting meeting.
2) No player would ever come help a team recruit a superstar player to help them get a title if the meeting ended with him not being a part of it. Just doesn't make sense.
3) We've known what our selling point would be all along: we're the most ready to help Melo get a title next year. Why? Defense, effort, the grit. Taj and Jo. We're bringing the physical embodiment of our sales pitch to the meeting. Again, the whole thing would be ruined if it ended with us breaking it up.

I hope this still means we keep Jimmy. And it's out of the question we'll keep McDermott. Do we make it out of this with Mirotic still? Still some questions left, but not about Taj.

Very apt. Compeltely agree. I would just add:

4) This hurts our chances to get Melo if NY isnt willing to play ball on a sign and trade.

On another note this does seem to be instigated by Noah. I appreciate the hell out his loyalty. It is basically along the same lines as Rose not wanting to recruit other players as it would mean some of his teammates would be out. Actually, its basically the same damn principle the difference being Noah narrowed his stand to a particular player i.e. Taj. Guess Jimmy is on his own

don't get me wrong, not that I'm advocating it, but Taj is at the meeting, not Rose. What if he's the odd man out?

It's cool, a player is willing to give up millions to play for another franchise yet Rose isn't willing to free up a few hours to talk to someone. I know, it's really tough to do.

I personally can't wait for D.Rose to no longer with the Bulls, even if he gets back to how good he was.

I swear sometimes threads like these make me realize how ungrateful some of us are. We claim to be the best fan base in the league, but we are some of the most ungrateful fans at times. Sometimes we act like the damn Knicks fans.

Uh....is anyone else tired of Chicago media taking shots at D Rose for not wanting to recruit?

I mean...the concept isn't absurd, and if its already been clarified....why is he still catching heat for this?

Let Noah and Gibson and Thibs handle that.

taj is in the meeting because it would be reassuring to melo to know that Taj is Staying. If taj was in the meeting and Melo heard from garpax, 'btw, you see this guy over here, we are getting rid of his arse so we can bring you in"...wouldn't surprise me if melo walked out right then and there saying get me a flight to HOU.

Exactly. Derrick will carry the offense and take the last second shots; Jo, Taj and Thibs will handle the defense and the recruiting.

People forget we were fukking going nowhere before he came. The man touched the floor and instantly made an impact. I think if people hate Rose they need to step away from the computer and reflect on that we almost picked Beasley and today we probably would be like the Sixers.

The fact that the Bulls did a conference introducing McDermott, took on Randolph's salary and are possibly using Taj to recruit means McDermott and Taj are not being traded and they have alternate plans of getting Melo(S and T or dumping Boozer to a different team).

It is a very obvious conclusion unless you are into conspiracy theories. And, for those who think the Bulls will lose leverage....who knows if they have heard that dumping Taj is losing leverage because of the thin team. Maybe they are trying to prove Taj is not being traded to Melo by bringing him to the meeting.

But that would actually be a rational thought. 8-) Where's the fun in that?

You're apparently responding to my theory, and I'd like to clarify, if you read through my thoughts on it, that the bolded is not at all what I said might happen, and the FO would only put it that way if they were all suffering from massive head trauma.

But I'm willing to let my pet rock go now.
Can I borrow a feeling?

I agree with you.

Please keep that in mind the next time someone silly-bashes the FO and Reinsdorf.

6 titles Jerry and a decade of playoffs FO. Gotta be grateful.

Derrick did the interview and in it he said...and I paraphrase "I love Melo's heart" "Sure I'd love to play with him" and "Anyone who loves to leave it all on the line, I'd love to have them here"

But what are we talking about?

OH ****....D ROSE DOESN'T WANT TO RECRUIT!!

.......again.

Now...how is that his fault again?

Thats what makes this idea he is there to offered up as a sacrifice so implausible. I mean that's in extremely poor taste, and players defend one another even if they aren't best buds. They aren't going to sit there and let some FO hack obliterate a players pride right in front of other players, agents and a coach. Thats insane.

On another note as Jimmy Forums noted, this entire thing is instigated by Noah's stand on not trading Taj. Taj is protected by Noah, which is very similar to Rose's stand on not recruiting to protect his teammates.
