I understand your stance, but there's not really any competent starters on the free agent market that are 'legit 3-point threats' unless you're interested in Trevor Ariza or optimistic enough to believe we can land Carmelo Anthony. Neither of Gordon Hayward & Chandler Parsons fair more than marginally better or similar to Lance Stephenson in that area as it may superficially appear
That's why I'm not that excited about Charlotte overpaying in this free agency market
Technically, if your going off last season, then Gordon Hayward is not a significant upgrade at 3 point shooing, however, if you look at his collective career, then you would see he has the potential to be a reliable outside scoring threat.
Well, 'technically' he's a decent 3-point shooter at 37% for his career so far, but he's inconsistent. I can only elaborate on his prowess beyond the arc as a whole. I can't depend on him to produce the same efficiency that he put up 2 years ago. I'll stand by 'what have you done for me lately?" because that's what's current. Even in college at Butler he was a inconsistent 3-point shooter, shooting 45% his freshman season followed by only 29% in his sophomore campaign. There's no consistency in Hayward's 3-point shot based on symmetry over the past 6 years but inconsistency
