Well that sets the baseline for Bledsoe, he's better than lowry, but I think we all knew bled would get at least 12 a year.
It really doesn't. Bledsoe has to have a market. Many people thought Lowry was the most deserving all star snub...along with Dragic. I know you probably didn't see Lowry play much, but he was EXTREMELY STRONG this year.
He has started in most of the games he's played in for four years, has been in the league 8 years, and is REALLY good. Bledsoe has started half a season and been a backup for 4 years.
Lowry's #s this year. 17.7 ppg, 7.4 apg, 4.9 rpg, 1.5 spg, shot almost have his shots from 3, knocking down 38% (so that brought is overall % down to 42%). He is currently better offensively than Bledsoe but obviously not as good defensively.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... yky01.htmlBledsoe 17.7, 5.7, 4.7, 35.7% from 3, but better from 2. So actually pretty even. But he is injury prone. Based on half a season, you can give him at least 12, which is ok, but I wouldn't de-finitely say "he is better than Lowry".
He is the only pg left though. I'm just not sure if anyone wants to give a pg that much at this time.
We can't let him go for nothing. Maybe we should offer him 12, but you don't want him to turn that down, and force us to go higher. If he doesn't get an offer, I'd offer him 10 or 11. Maybe 11 and give him 12.
Last year a bunch of guys thought they'd get a lot more and ended up having to settle for a lot less. Monta, Teague, Jennings, etc. He's better than those guys, but those guys got around 8. They got over it.
Lets not give him so much that it forces us to let Dragic go next year because he deserves more. If we don't get LeBron, I'd say Bledsoe is very tradeable at a lower contract level, but he becomes hard to trade at 14, at least for a good return. And to be clear, I am not advocating trading him, but would if it came down as a choice between him and Dragic next year because we were capped out on a team that looked like a ceiling in the west of a 7-8 seed largely because our frontcourt of Kieff and Plumlee just couldn't cut it in the west, then we'd have to move someone.
Some teams will eventually decline and we SHOULD get better, but it's not a certainty. All teams think they will get better except for Philly. They have different goals.
