been watching more of Ray Smith and I'm expecting him to make huge strides this year. Like his length and athleticism and the way he gets his own shot.
Cant wait to see how far he and Perry Dozier come along heading into their frosh college years.
as far as SFS go ( i consider simmons more of a tweener leaning towards PF) in the class of '15, i think it goes:
jaylen brown, ray smith and derrick jones. i haven't seen enough of ingram to rank him, but jones' tools are off the charts and his skill level is gradually improving.
another note on ray smith. i read that he released his top 9 schools and UNLV wasn't on it. i'm not sure if it is supposed to be a given that UNLV is in the mix because i'm sure he's made multiple visits to the campus, but i did not see him name UNLV. i'm thinking 'zona is the favorite.
Do u like vj king or dedric Lawson?
And I know he's not a sf but have u seen tj leaf? Is he another Kyle wiltjer?
not as much as other wings. vj king has an all around game and can create his shot a little but i don't see the handle of someone like a tyus battle, who has a similar game but with better ball skills. great length, but is just an average athlete with a slim build too. i'd probably have him further down my list than what i've seen from the recruiting services.
the lawson brothers are a tough eval. they're obviously very talented and well-rounded, but every setting i've seen them in was very "lawson-centric." they try to do anything and everything so their games turn out to be 2 man shows a la the harrison twins. he's yet another average athlete with super long limbs. dedric looks like the more talented of the older brothers. i think he has better ball skill, especially the handle. i'd like to see action with him not playing with his older brother OR coached by his dad to get a better read on him, but that probably won't happen in the near future. he and his brother (maybe younger brother too eventually), along with his dad are a reported package deal.
i've only seen a little of tj leaf, but i think he has more potential than wiltjer because he has better mobility. he has a slight chance of becoming a SF, whereas wiltjer had none. leaf's athleticism is deceptive. not as good of a shooter as wiltjer, but he's a good one. can also put it on the deck and be a factor in transition unlike kyle.
