Cuz you don't build a win-now roster on the basis that Rose might suck so bad you need a star PG behind him. If we need Thomas, we're screwed. If we don't, we've buried a 10 million dollar player on the bench.
I'd run a 2 point guard lineup for a good chunk of time. Sure Rose would be guarding twos, but there are only a handful of twos that can take advantage of that. I think you'll actually see more 2 point lineups in the future, I'd like the bulls to stay ahead of the curve.
Thomas, Rose
Rose, Butler
McDermott, butler
Gibson, Mirotic
Noah, Gibson
It would be tricky at first, but that team has a ton of talent and playmaking ability, something we've lacked for a while.
You would run a swing rotation of Thomas, Rose at the 2, and McDermott. You're serious about that? That's simply impossible to hide on defense. And Mirotic certainly couldn't play with that group, of course. It's just a bad idea. Your star is a PG, you don't spend big money on the eensiest PG in the league.
