Melo is worth max only from a business standpoint, a tool to sell more tickets and merchandise at higher prices, because for the most part basketball fans go goo goo gaga over individuals over the actual teams they play for.

Phil's mistake imo should have been to offer a number he truly feels he can work with to effectively build the team he visions, which would have been in line with everything he has said.

Then if comes to max...so be it.

You don't think if the Bulls or Lakers had either the money(Bulls) or 5th year(LA) they wouldn't hand it to him?
I do. This is where you and I will never agree. Even on the court Melo is a max player in today's game. Look at the contracts being thrown around. Melo at max lines up.

You dont have to agree, you're debating facts, not opinion.....they cannot offer it, end of story there.

Melo's market as a star player is determined by the CBA, and reality is....teams arent bending for him.

Fact.....no other team CAN offer 129 mil......so that isnt his market as no one but the Knicks can give it to him.

There hasnt been any report the Bulls are even trying to get anywhere close to what their max for him is....15 mil was allegedly offered during the selling meeting.

At this point, I'm not discussing "if's" only what we've known and facts.

And if you're really in believe that a team offering a bad contract justifies melo's max, I pray Phil doesnt have similar thinking.

That's the thing, I don't think its a bad contract. Then again I believe in Melo and you don't...much like the majority of the board.

Say what you want but LA offered that max. Period.

Chicago simply can't as they have money tied up. You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes to say who's trying to move what so your point there is mute.

Fact: LA offered the Max.
Fact: Other teams want him but don't have the necessary cap space to offer the max.

Woj just followed Melo on Twitter, which leads me to believe Melo will post his decision on Twitter

Melo's former coach weighing in on SportsCenter coming up.

Ugh, George Karl.

I was hoping for Woodson or Boeheim.

I would laugh if he ended up signing somewhere in China for 30 million a year.

Melo said he was willing to take less. Phil was supposed to leave it there. It was not Phil's place to harp on it especially since we all know Melo's market says he is in fact a max player. That is where I will forever stand on that issue. Phil played that card wrong.

I dont see any team moving heaven and earth to offer a max, so no....that isnt his value.

Then if comes to max...so be it.

Teams aren't moving heaven and earth because they know that it is very unlikely that Melo will sign with them in the first place. If Melo committed 100% to a team they would do everything in their power to make room

The CBA doesn't dictate Melo's value. Melo's true value is probably over the max, but the amount of money he can receive is limited the CBA. Lakers offered him the much they could and probably would have offered him more if they could.

Also how do you know Phil made a mistake and that he believes that he can actually build a team with Melo making the max?

The Knicks front office is stacked with unity and credibility. Gone are Isiah days of guessing on the wrong side. The team of Jackson, Mills and Fisher are all pulling together, unlike the team and star players around the league.
The chance of Melo in New York, like Jordan in Chicago and Kobe in LA, is going to be tempting very mucho so.

These men are not rookies in negitiations and Fisher is probably the best of all three in this aspect.
The Knicks are telling Melo, we won't shortchange you because we value you and have a vision of what you can be here in New York.

" this is our 6 year plan for us. We feel that with you here, we can compete for a few championships." " you down"?
Melo is feeling the love but more importantly sees himself leaving a mark on the New York landscape. Once in a lifetime free agent opportunity. Get what you're worth in the NBA market and do what even Riley and Patrick couldn't do.

a bad deal is offering from the jump by a large margin over everyone else in any business deal no matter who it is. And yeah for the record I dont believe melo is worth 129 mil on the court, and durability has always been my reason why. too much money for a player whose been injured every year they've been here, and way too inefficient to command such dollar when the lights are brightest.

He's a #1 if the goal isnt to win at the highest level.....#2 if it is.

greenhughes wrote:Say what you want but LA offered that max. Period.

You said "market'. 129 isnt his market, the lakers offer isnt his market either, neither is the bulls.

Notice how three different teams offered three different things. Not market, CBA dictates what they can.

greenhughes wrote:Chicago simply can't as they have money tied up. You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes to say who's trying to move what so your point there is mute.

Sure they could, they wont because they dont want a gutted team just to get Melo. but they certainly could if they wanted to.

Thats all LA could do, but it isnt "market" as you want it to be believed.

If a team truly wanted a legit shot for Melo, they'd make the room....plain and simple. The well known destination (Bulls) isnt even doing it, and there's no indication they would even if he picked them.

Why doesn't Melo post something on Twitter to let the Knicks fans know what's up? Not his decision, but that he loves it here, some reassurance that he cares about winning, will do whatever it takes to help us whether he stays or leaves.

this make's sense doesnt it?

Chris Delgado @Delblogo · 7m
After Knicks & Phil reportedly agreed on deal back in April, a counter report came out that Lakers swooped in & in lead for Phil. Remember?

it seems like the same scenario's being played our here.

Isn't that the purpose of Twitter and social media? Also, in the end, we're the ones that pay for his shoes, too.
