Wormwood74 wrote:So we're letting Channing Frye walk. Think about what this means:

1. We're down to one true PF on the team (Markieff)
2. We let our best net +/- per 48 guy go, who also made Dragic much better on the court...
3. We don't have a stretch 4, but our offense demonstrably needs one (a lot), especially given has the range of a 100 lb shot put
4. We drafted a true PG
5. Letting Frye go creates enough cap space that we can sign a max FA, and absorb a max contract if we trade someone else away...
6. McD is a numbers guy, he knows exactly what letting Frye walk costs us in terms of on court performance

All of this makes sense if we're planning on trading Dragic or Bledsoe for Love, and we're planning on signing a max deal player like LeBron. Either McD is taking a huge risk (because what if those deals don't happen? Then we have a giant hole at PF, tons of unused cap space, and the team probably got worse) or he's pretty sure he's got some things lined up that are probably a done deal.

Given how quiet things have been, I think the insider rumors that the Suns have something HUGE lined up that makes us a ridiculous team to play against is probably true. A starting five of Plumlee, Love, LeBron, Green, and Bledsoe with a very deep bench is frightening.

At a minimum, I think we have a KLove deal in place. The moves don't make sense otherwise.

Not saying you are wrong but Frye and any other move may not have any thing to do with the other

Letting Frye go to Orlando might just have been smart business - not going to pay 8m per year for the player

Frye was a good payer - but I was thinking closer to 5m for three years and not 8m for 4

Suns CANNOT repeat 2010 and sign average players to long term deals just to be busy

One year deals, even if you overpay by a million or two - fine. But don't give up long term cap space

How?

He posted a pic of some Kobe 9's that Nike sent him and said in the caption "Gotta save the purple elites for the season."

So either he's staying or he's going to the Lakers or Hornets.

Lol gotcha, thanks :D

It's going to be a rough year unless either Len or Plumlee makes a defensive leap. Kieff is an undersized PF who gets beat on the glass by bigger teams and has no rim protection. We'll still be an 6-8th seed team next year. You can't expect do much on the West coast without length and toughness. I sort of like the Ryan Anderson idea...perhaps even better than Love because he can score and still rebound without all the max player hubbub. I'd rather have a clutch swing player with a solid defensive frontcourt. You can get a way with a softer C or PF but not both.

I think we absolutely need to make a move to make the playoffs next year. We're coming dangerously close to TWolves territory, in fact, only the Wolves, Pistons and Kings have had a longer playoff drought than us.

Lets not be Cavs or Heat fans....You are going to see some doom and gloom big time. I see another Lebron letter in the future.

Marc Stein: Popular question raised by last five teams I've talked to: Is Melo holding out in hopes Bosh goes to Houston so he can join LeBron in Miami? Twitter @ESPNSteinLine - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.UetoVaMZ.dpuf

From the beginning I myself was thinking the same .Except I was thinking it was LEBRON hoping that Bosh would somehow leave.

So what? Our main goal is championship, not 8th seed.

If LeBron decides against coming to AZ stay tight, be patient, develop our young guys and be ready for some big trade splash when opportunity arise.

OK, so if LeBron demands max then Wade and Bosh must take cuts (I believe). So wouldn't that mean Melo would have to take considerably less in Bosh's place?

UNLESS,,,,,,,,,,,,,Lebron was willing to take less ALL ALONG if Carmelo came aboard . Just put it out there that he wanted the max to maybe push Bosh out,,,,,,,,WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE A BAD GUY

That is idiotic. Lebron would just tell the dude he sucks and he doesn't want to play with him. He wouldn't not sign and hope Bosh would go away, that is crazy.

The more people speculate because they don't have any news of substance to report, the more ridiculous the stories become.

I myself would love to see more of Goodwin & Len this year . Warren and Ennis really intrigue me too . We got the YOUNG TALENT locked up . I'd hate to trade them right now

No one can sign until July 10. If teams offered Bledsoe an offer sheet now it gives the suns more than 3 days to match. No one will offer him anything until he can actually sign it and put us on the clock.

bwgood77 wrote:Upon further thought, if there is any truth to the Dragic/Rondo stuff, I could imagine this being what happens. It's a 3 way involving the Kings, and they end up with Rondo and we get Thomas and Stauskas, because I think McD was high on him.

If this is the case, I still don't like losing Dragic at all, but I think getting those guys might not be a terrible deal (while I think just getting Rondo doesn't seem like a fit at all). Maybe we get a pick too.
I'm not sure how I would feel about a dragic for stauskas trade but you could be on to something if mcd really loves stauskas and wants to pair him with bledsoe as the long term back court.

I have a feeling PJ is getting the MLE from somebody and will not be a Suns player

Ryan seems smart enough that just because Frye leaves you overpay for Tucker. I like PJ - but at the right price - which is closer to Warrick, maybe Dudley range at the high end

And maybe the dip in the last two years has a lot to with Rose out and no good pg penetrating. Maybe that tells us a lot. If that's the case, maybe I should revise my thinking on Deng.

That is the clue, he has been playing a ton of minutes with Noah, Boozer or Gibson and Butler on the court at the same time, and the spacing was poor.He is not a 3p specialist, but he seems a better shooter than his numbers say in the last two years. In our system, he would improve.
