It's not like he has a Redd/Deron/Fatoine body that wants to stay perpetually fat. He's an x-factor in all this. If the new owners and coach bring more authority and accountability to the whole organization, Mayo could be a great fit with his 3-point shooting and ability to moonlight at pg.
Giannis would absolutely have to come off the bench IMO. I would try to give him 30 mpg, but he doesn't fit with the starters. Not enough shooters, and Parker/Bledsoe would dominate the ball. Let Giannis be our sf version of Manu Ginobili. He would initiate the offense, with Knight and Ersan playing off the ball more. Middleton is a great fit starting at sf.
I'm starting to talk myself into this big time. I don't think it will happen without a sign-and-trade though. Why would Phoenix let him walk? And I'm sure he wants to hold out for that 5-year max. Can players still get the full max as part of a sign-and-trade, or did the new CBA change that?
Interesting. So, if we don't sign Bledsoe (or if Bledsoe could shoot), would Giannis be a starter in your opinion?
