Yeah, standing pat isn't a bad thing when you tried to sign the best player in the world and it didn't work out. Calm down man. It's not like we didn't try. If standing pat is your last resort it's never the end of the world.

It depends where you're standing. Standing pat as the Spurs makes a lot of sense. Standing pat as anyone else becomes questionable. Standing pat as a team outside the playoffs is probably not advisable.

What moves are available that make this team a clear contender right away?

I like how everyone that doesn't want us to stand pat, but you don't just make moves to make moves. Overpay role players when you're a contender. Not now.

My preference would be for small moves, or taking chances on some younger players like we did with Plumlee and Green. With the right mix of small moves, we could become a 50 win team, with cap space and three draft picks next year. What more could a free agent ask for? You could go after Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, or LaMarcus Aldridge. Or, depending on the progress our own players make, you extend them and spend smaller amounts on tier 2 and 3 free agents.

We'll add at least a PF because we need to, but no need to cry about SFs and SGs signing elsewhere , especially at those prices. I guess I have a little more faith in the FO and roster than you

But this is a forum so go ahead and vent. Just watch where you step... Someone dropped a "duece" around here

Because he doesn't like the make up of the current team...he's whining. Ok whatever. And "duece" is not a word.

Your going to be the first to whine when the suns aren't as good as you "think."

Oh and thanks for your insight on what the suns are going to do, as worthless as it is.

Me too. Even if we do have to pay both Dragic and Bledsoe $16 million a year each, I hope we keep them both, unless we can just do some sort of no brainer blockbuster trade. No reason to feel you need to get rid of one of your two best players until some REAL GOOD reason makes you feel like it's the best road to go down. As we have seen, it's not easy to get a superstar.

I was thinking, it might be good to have a thread that has links to all of the good reference sites, like those salary scales, the CBA faqs, etc. I know some of us here check that info all the time, but there are so many questions about things that get asked again and again it might be good to have more posters educated on these things, or have a quick thread link to look it up.

Kerrsed, if reading, what do you think of that?

Go ahead and make one. Maybe we just have the one post with all the links, lock it up and sticky it.

I agree with this premise. And there's plenty of time in the off season to still make these small moves.

Bruce Arians walked into a different situation.
He needed one player.

The cardinals and suns GM are actually very similar
They don't overpay market value and they get cheap deals.
Last year they basically spent money on 1year contracts
This year they barely spent any.

Both GMs believe in the draft process

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

OK, might sticky it for now but not lock it quite yet because more people might have good resources to add.

Draft is way more important to nfl teams than NBA teams. Even a late draft pick is huge to a team.

Besides the point. Two totally different sports.

I wish we at least had some kind of idea of where we are heading. I mean there has been close to zero info about us in the media for the past week. Even though we were still in the Lebron chase up until yesterday, nobody was reporting on us.

The make up of this current team is pretty much the make up of last year's team, only with better health and more experience. Okay okay so we lost the almighty linchpin of our offense, frye wow, I'm going to bet that we find a suitable replacement somewhere, or make the proper adjustments..

Frankly I don't know what we're going to do. I'm just not going to whine about what we didn't do. Which seems to be the passing fancy around here.

And Whoops pardon me, I misspelled pile of ****

I love the rookies and hope they devlop into all stars. I look forward to their devlopment. Really I do! I'm a Suns fan for life. Having said that I'd love to at least get some help in the SF and PF position. I'd like to keep the ball rolling on the winning and overachieving that we had last year. Standing pat and not taking any chances with the roster we have would be foolish. What I mean by that is with a core of youngsters we could presumably package in a trade, at a later time, if we got a bad contract or player that sucked the air outta the place. I'm not saying we have to win the chip this year but I think McD should do something to improve my piece of mind. I can spout more cliche's if need be.

That's homerism to the max cromartie is not a elite DB his best days are behind him.
He was a upgrade though. The GMs are the same they don't throw big money out period.
They gave cromartie,Abraham, mendenhall Etc to short term deals.
Dansby got a long term offer and they let him walk
Just like the suns let frye go.

Yeah the NFl draft is more important but it's equivalent to hoarding assets in the nba.
Len/Archie/6 draft picks in 2 years etc.. At some point you so cash them in.

Arians walked into a team that had a elite defense and a pro bowl WR
All he needed was a QB.

When hornacek took the team they had a projection of being the worst team in the damn league.
At the end of the day BOTH franchises should of been in playoffs.
But the divison/conference was just bad luck

Ryan Anderson is owed too much money over the next 2 years @ $8.5 million each. Essentially, half of Frye's new contract. No thank you and to potentially give up a first for him.

Return to Phoenix Suns
