My preference would be for small moves, or taking chances on some younger players like we did with Plumlee and Green. With the right mix of small moves, we could become a 50 win team, with cap space and three draft picks next year. What more could a free agent ask for? You could go after Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, or LaMarcus Aldridge. Or, depending on the progress our own players make, you extend them and spend smaller amounts on tier 2 and 3 free agents.
I find myself agreeing with Barkley6 a lot. But I really like the idea of finding guys that people may be overlooking. I mean if our coaching staff can turn Green and Plumlee who were afterthoughts into starters on a 49 win team, WHO ELSE is out there and lets find them! Why waste huge dollars on guys past their prime when we can pluck guys for nothing that no one cares about and find their potential. People were wondering why we were going after Kent Bazemore. I don't care why...the dude gets paid, what a million dollars? Who knows what we can do with him? If they see something in these guys, go get them.
Honestly, last year if Green and Plumlee were free agents and we signed Green for $3 million and Plumlee for $1 million SunsDeuce would have likely lost it. To be fair, many of us would have wondered what was up. But if we can get more production out of guys on the cheap instead of vastly overpaying guys like everyone else is doing it's a no lose situation. The west is VERY tough. Lets load our arsenal with multiple cheap, yet deadly weapons for the future.
