Not as useless as some of these "insiders".

Maybe we get involved with Sac if we want Thomas-- they also drafted our guy in Stauskas...
Yeah, I brought this up a few days ago because it was rumored we had visited with Thomas. I said maybe a S&T Bledsoe (to play with his buddy Cousins) and we get Thomas, Stauskas, Derrick Williams (to help match salaries), and a pick.
Derrick Williams only has a year left so if he doesn't work out, no big deal, and Stauskas, a pick and Thomas isn't terrible for future.
Of course I say this with the caveat of it being done ONLY because McD didn't want to pay Bledsoe that much (for whatever reason) and wanted to keep Dragic and not pay both. Otherwise I'd prefer to keep both no matter the cost.
BUT, I think Thomas would actually be a good sparkplug 6th man type off the bench. If he was our free agent signing to just come off the bench, that's a DAMN good pg to come off the bench. It doesn't make Ennis expendable necessarily because he's a rookie. But just signing him gives us more trade options later...whether it be trading Thomas, Bledsoe, Dragic, Ennis.

Bingo!!! Too bad the Suns are NOT a championship team, so we should have had no business bringing PJ Tucker back. This Suns organization is so desperate to be mediocre it's not even funny anymore. They are going to go all out trying to get in the playoffs, ignore their young prospects, and end up somewhere in the 9th through 11th seed.
You don't become a championship team without championship players. There is a reason the magic spent 30 plus on frye and it's not to help them win a championship this year. At some point you gotta stop stockpiling youth. You may think the 76ers model is the way to go but unless embiid turns out to be Hakeem that team is gonna break up before they learn how to win. Thunder are the only team I've seen become title contenders just stockpiling youth and letting them grow. And they had the greatest 4 year draft stretch of all time probably. (Durant-Westbrook-harden-Ibaka)
By the time the Suns are legitimately competing for championships, do you really think PJ Tucker will still be around? If so, he certainly wont be in his prime. Why do so many people on this board think you need to get all your role players in place BEFORE you have a star? That is the most backwards logic I have ever heard. You get a star and then you get role players that fit with that superstar. We don't need to have veteran role players (like PJ Tucker) locked up before we have a superstar, by doing so, we are almost guaranteeing ourselves to being mediocre. I guess you have never watched the Spurs in the last 1o years then because they did it the right way. They got their superstar in Tim Duncan and then found great pieces to fit around him, not the other way around like you seem to suggest the Suns should be doing...

Because he can strong-arm 40 year old PG's?
Scutt wrote:Lespaul wrote:It's about getting good value signings and drafting well. Take a page out of SAs book.
Very true, but drafting well also means developing those young players and giving them a chance to see what they can do. The Suns do not have the best history with developing their young talent. We have young guys right now that deserve a chance to show what they can do (Len, Goodwin, Marcus, and the rookies) but our front office goes and resigns PJ, taking away minutes from everyone.

Players like Tucker win you games please stop the hating.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.
Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Forgot I never got back to you on this BW... I had not read yours before posting my very similar thought. Great minds think alike on that one. i think the tea leaves are getting pretty clear with regards to Sacto. I certainly don't know if something will happen there, but we know who the players are likely to be if it does. Surprised Stauskas signed his deal already, though....will limit trading him until Dec., I think.
