Its a slight overpay on a yearly basis but its only 2 years. Its not the best deal in the world, but we aren't going to knock every deal out of the ball park. He fits a need on our club.

Nobody was gonna give this bum more than 2 years unless it was at 3M or 4M at year. Ain't nothing slight about this overpay.

both Buford and Riley "reportedly" wanted this guy.

He would have got the MLE.

It's a slight overpay over 2 years.

he'll get 2.4m more than he would have anywhere else over that time span.

Go ahead and put that 2.4 more than he would have gotten anywhere else in your sig. You've had to say it 54 times now :)

I doubt they would've gave him the full MLE. People reserve that for players that can actually play. They prolly would've offered him the mid level MLE.

i doubt he wouldn't have but it's conjecture.

Marvin Williams can play.

Yeah I've had to point it out a couple of dozen times!

That's what the numbers are though!

MJ is a billionaire, 2.4m is hardly a massive overpay.

He might not be a scrub but he's definitely irrelevant. Ain't gonna make us better but he might make us worst.

Hes an upgrade over Tolliver so he definitely makes us better than we were yesterday.

As I've already pointed out, the Heat and Spurs have at least courted him this offseason.

that is not the definition of irrelevance imo.

He'll be the best backup SF we've had in a long time, if ever, and also provide valuable experience at PF.

This is exactly the type of under the radar move that has gotten us to the playoffs.

He can't shoot better than Tolly but he's slightly better. I'll give you that. I guess Tolly is worth 5M. That's how close they are in talent.

No, you're wrong. As far as pure talent Williams is 40 times better than Tolliver. He is a much better overall player than Tolliver in general. Is he overpaid? Slightly yeah, but Williams is a nice upgrade over Tolliver.

Tolliver is .351 career from 3 and Williams is .335.

Considering Tolly is a spot up shooter, Marvin's percentages are impressive in comparison imo.

The Heat and Spurs have courted just about every player according to reports. They not sitting on they ass or playing stealth ninja like us.

Of course Williams might be the best backup SF we had in a while. It's not hard to be better than Jeff Taylor bum ass and his 6 PER. Lol.

And yet you are trying to claim that he is "slightly" better than tolliver?

The Heat and Spurs both recognise a player who can help a playoff team.

Which Marvin has done for a vast majority of his career.

Yea and Tolly make more 3s in less minutes. I like how spacing becomes a non factor when it's convenient. What exactly is Messy Marv gonna do? He ain't taking nobody off the dribble. He a blah 3 point shooter. He average to below at everything. He like the Hendo of forwards but worst. Lol.

And hes still much better than Tolliver, so what does that say about him?

Messy Marv is the nickname for this guy. He's gonna be terrible all over the place. Lol. No jumper. No defense. No rebounds. Just a contract holdover.

Because spot up shooting is Tolliver's role.

Williams can benefit from Jefferson just as much imo, if placed in the same role.

Williams will space the floor from both forward spots imo.

That says that Tolly is good value at 1M and that Messy Marv is horrible value at 7M. That's what it say with flashing lights.

Tolliver reportedly has 4-5 teams after him. Hes going to get a nice little pay raise, so that 1M ordeal is irrelevant.

Your negativity is amusing, maybe we should let him play a minute before completely writing him off?

Marvin was not worth the #2 pick, it doesn't mean he's worthless.

Messy Marv is gonna have me begging for Zeller to come in at PF or whoever our 3rd string SF is. I can already see it. I hated him at the Hawks when I liked Joe Johnson a little bit and he's cornier now than he was then.
