Seems like a desperation move from Rich Paul. He should've paid more attention to Bledsoe early in FA rather than LBJ.
Yeah, that is a fine amount, but the fact that we raised our offer, instead of settling at that number isn't good. That means Bledsoe and his agent are making us increase our offer, which effectively says we will settle at a higher number. We should have held at 4/44 and then let them work their way down to saying they will accept 4/48.
Now we are at 4/48 and they are at 5/80. They are at 16 a year and we are at 12. If we meet in the middle at 14 a year, that is 4/56 or 5/70, which is pretty ridiculous. Even if he was going to be absolutely healthy for the contract, I don't think he's worth it, and neither does the market. So there is ZERO reason to go there.
But there isn't even a guarantee he is healthy. This could be another Rose situation, making 16 million while eating skittles on the bench for two years.
It's nothing less than extremely risky no matter how much we give him now, but their asking price is just absurd.
If there was a bidding war going on, at least I'd understand it.
