Can you imagine what he will be like on defense when he is 25? He was easily a top ten defender at his position at 20. I don't know why you would assume that even if his shot doesn't improve that no other aspects of his game will as well. What will you say when he is 25 and a top 5 defender in the league and one of the best rebounders at his position? Are you going to complain about a guy who is first or second team all-defense averaging 12 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 apg , 2 stlpg, 1 blkpg, and shooting 50% from the field? Are you going to be clamoring for us to trade him for a someone who can can shoot threes for #spacing? He could easily become this player in five years even if his shot barely improves.

So far Clifford seems completely adverse to anything even slightly creative on offense and anything other than the most generic dumb downed strategy possible. I can understand if he is just trying to bring things along slowly and get us to master the simpler things before expanding on them. I actually think this is a very good way to implement a system with a young team. The only thing that worries me is if he becomes so completely obsessed with #Alfense that he is afraid to try anything else.

I'll try to hold optimism that Clifford will expand his creativity on offense. He mentioned that he'll keep things simplified on offense and defense the first season to a base set without many wrinkles, but I expect for him to expand on those things this upcoming season. However, likewise to you, I have some fear that he might not

In the on air interview he did during the summer league game, Clifford specifically talked about needing to add more variety to the offense, scoring more in transition, and needing to get more offensive contributions from MKG. I'm pretty optimistic that MKG is going to be put to better use this season, if only because Lance is a spectacular slasher and distributor and will be setting MKG up for dunks.

Looks like he still has those pipe cleaners for arms though.

lance seems like more of an ISO scorer than a slasher to me, though he has done both. i agree with you that this will bode well for MKG, assuming they log lots of minutes together. i also wonder how often they will end up on the same side of the basket. maybe with the second ball handler in the backcourt jefferson will wander out of the left block a little more regularly, and open up back screens on the baseline, and a little more variety to charlotte's offensive sets. more chances for MKG to try his post game maybe?

You can tell it's still a little awkward but lightyears ahead of what we saw last season. I'm really anxious to see how this new form manifests itself on the court when the real action starts, and if his percentages see a respectable uptick. MKG with even a league-average jumper would be a hell of a player to build around.

How the hell do you think we're going to trade that bum for Lamb? We'd have to throw in a Big Al- Kendrick Perkins swap just to make them think about it!

Most likely

Perkins and Lamb for Al and MKG

We are really screwing them over big time, might need to throw in Kemba to make it work.

Gerald Henderson & Gary Neal for Jeremy Lamb & Kendrick Perkins actually sound intriguing...

Last thing we need to give Clifford is another excuse to not play Biz.

Clifford would probably never let it happen, but MKG at the 4 in some small lineups could be pretty successful. Especially if we played up tempo in those lineups. But that's another thing we'll never see from Clifford.

I think it's funny that people talk like we have a huge body of evidence on how Clifford coaches. All we have is one season where he said he intentionally limited his creativity.
