Grew up in NC. Went to UNC for Philosophy. And now you're doing startup stuff in NYC?! I'm curious how that happened.

I still love the foundation for critical thought I received from those classes.

fatlever wrote:i've seen a lot of grown men who act like 12 year olds. does that count? each year in the summer there seems to be an influx of posters who appear to be teens at home from school for the summer. as far as this board, i think 15ish range is about the youngest i can remember.
what team does the 10 year old that you babysit like? are you converting him to a hornets fan?
btw, its good to see someone else who doesn't like to capitalize letters on realgm. haha.

Econ is certainly more practical. If I were to do it over again I'd still major in philosophy but id also minor or double major in something more technical.

i majored in geography with a minor in sociology and i have been working in the finance industry for 18 years. go figure. most everything i learned about the finance industry, i learned myself.
and i am such a hypocrite when it comes to reviewing resumes for prospective interview candidates. i will barely look at anyone who doesn't have some kind of business, finance, economics, accounting, marketing degree.
i have been getting resumes from recent grads with some of the worst degrees (for what they are applying for - a job in finance) - stuff like linguistics, nutrition, secondary math education, health science - i mean, seriously? do they even read the job description?
