Id put Gerald Wallace somewhere in the top 13 or so. He was a monster in fantasy land.

From what I conjecture his wife passed away in 2010 and he hasn't posted since. It shows he logged in two weeks ago though...Interesting memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=57247

i've seen a lot of grown men who act like 12 year olds. does that count? each year in the summer there seems to be an influx of posters who appear to be teens at home from school for the summer. as far as this board, i think 15ish range is about the youngest i can remember.

what team does the 10 year old that you babysit like? are you converting him to a hornets fan?

btw, its good to see someone else who doesn't like to capitalize letters on realgm. haha.

Grew up in NC. Went to UNC for Philosophy. And now you're doing startup stuff in NYC?! I'm curious how that happened.

It's a long story, but I got involved in tech startupland soon after graduating. I was also a political science major- double major. Basically nobody was interested in hiring me doing things I was interested in so I had to go a different path. Glad it worked out the way it did. Sometimes you just have to get in there and do it before you know what the hell you are doing.

I'm a major advocate of learning how to learn as well as understanding critical thinking structures. My liberal arts education did a great job of this. I'm also a big believer that you can teach yourself most things without needing formal classes once you understand how to learn new skills efficiently and effectively.

Econ is certainly more practical. If I were to do it over again I'd still major in philosophy but id also minor or double major in something more technical.

i majored in geography with a minor in sociology and i have been working in the finance industry for 18 years. go figure. most everything i learned about the finance industry, i learned myself.

and i am such a hypocrite when it comes to reviewing resumes for prospective interview candidates. i will barely look at anyone who doesn't have some kind of business, finance, economics, accounting, marketing degree.

i have been getting resumes from recent grads with some of the worst degrees (for what they are applying for - a job in finance) - stuff like linguistics, nutrition, secondary math education, health science - i mean, seriously? do they even read the job description?

Same here, and I was that guy applying for jobs with no indication on my resume that I had the needed skills. For the most part, majors are only good for getting you in the door on the first 1-2 jobs. My job has absolutely nothing to do with any class I ever took in school.

Lol. You need to seriously give those people with the degrees that doesn't match what you're looking for a chance. Chances are they are probably more qualified than the individuals who majored in what you're looking for. Seems to always workout that way.

I wish I chose something practical like finance. I think I would be good at it and there more jobs there and freaking Television and Radio which is what I majored in.

I just purchased my first home this week and I could do anything the lender can do, and I tell he makes bank! I learn extremely fast with computers.

hmmm - hire the person with the nutrition degree over the person with the finance degree for an entry level job in finance.

to be honest, i could train anyone with half a brain how to do what i need them to do in a few months, regardless of degree. what i really look for in interviews is personality, energy and whether or not i think they will stick around for a while. i need to know that my management style will mesh with whoever i hire and i need to know their personality will mesh with the team. i look for people who have a lot of energy. i joke about wanting a bunch of ADHD guys, who pound red bulls an adderall. but at the same time, not someone who is so motivated that they will start looking for a new job in less than a year.

i'm surprised you didnt go to school for a computer science/IT type degree. you obviously have a ton of skills in that area.

if i had it to do over, i'd probably go for an econ degree or just a generic business degree.
