It's not a matter of getting even with Bledsoe or killing his value as a 2015 UFA ... he would be telling us he doesn't want to be part of the Suns long term plans. In that case we absolutely need to develop Goodwin and Ennis.
Thomas/Ennis
Dragic/Goodwin
I still can't imagine Bledsoe passing on $48M ... smh
Until this statement by Bledsoe, I would have agreed that he wouldn't be stupid enough to take the the QO, but now, after the statement, he may very well be.
Either way, I'm pretty much done with him. I liked his defense, but disliked how he ran the team, and his demeanor towards the team.
I still can't believe he hasn't made another statement, explaining what he said and meant. At this point, he should be saying that he really wants to return to PHX and lead them to the playoffs. The longer this drags out, with only that stupid statement out there, the more he looks like an ignorant arse.
But in no way should we raise the offer to him.
I can't believe we're making such a big deal out of his comment. Did you actually read the whole thing? Here it is in case you missed it:
"I can understand the Phoenix Suns are using being a restricted free agent against me. But I can understand that."
What's so terrible about that quote? It's a little naive but does that really surprise anyone?
And what was wrong with his demeanor towards his team? I thought it was excellent though a but restrained. He's not outgoing but most of the time he said and did the right thing. Even the exit interview that so many are concerned over reflected well on him up until his non-answer to the question that should never be asked of a free agent. He said "we" instead of "I" repeatedly and he talked positively about teammates and coaches (all season long actually).
The Suns aren't using anything against him. He is a RFA, there are rules that go with that. We said we would match any offer (meaning we want him here, and we will pay whatever a team thinks he is worth). He didn't get any offers, he barely got mentioned at the start of FA period, even Lowry was talked about at great lengths on NBAtv. Heck they didn't even list Bledsoe in the top five FA (R or U) in their segment.
His comment still sounds like a whinny little baby, even with the "I understand that". With that comment, he looks even dumber.
Moreover, the longer he leaves that statement out there without clear understanding of the position he is in, make fans think he doesn't really care to be here. He just wants the max amount if money for his half of a season production.
I just hate when millionaires (or soon to be) play the victim. The offer that has been reported is more than fair.
