I wasn't judging. I was saying there is no reason for it to happen. The league has precautions in place so something like this doesn't happen which is primarily why you hear of it happening so little. Mistake? Yes. Easily avoidable? Absolutely.

I think people are entitled to judge each other when it comes to public safety or health issues. I don't think it means that you're better than somebody as a person however I think it appropriate to criticize each other regardless whether you're an athlete or celebrity when it comes to breaking the law in a potentially harmful manner. Driving drunk or impaired endangers innocent people. I've lost an uncle to an impaired motorist and all I can say is driving is a privilege people take for granted. In Oregon you can get a DUI for falling asleep at the wheel too.

People often live their lives making seemingly unimportant decisions until it causes harm to themselves or someone else. Luckily, Tucker didn't hurt anyone.

I still like Tucker as a player and hope he learns from his mistake. It's his to own however his fans and employer reacts.

I wonder if the Suns used this information to get a better contract with Tucker? He got a $16.5/3 deal, with the last year being completely unguaranteed. Essentially he got only a two year contract. This Extreme DUI could have potentially cost him a few million in lost salary. SMH.

I am judging. That isn't a mistake. That represents and incredible lack of responsibility and self control. You don't blow .222 because you had a few too many at dinner.

Back to Eric Bledsoe for a moment.

Question: I know every player has an agent. But do players also retain "permanent" attorneys as well, mainly using them for legal advice and balancing the influence of the agent?

My sense is that most of them have only an agent, and said agent has a lot of influence over the player....especially a young, unsophisticated (negotiation wise) player like Bledsoe.

Even if Eric's agent is exerting a lot of influence on him, it is ultimately Bledsoe's call to break the stalemate and get a deal done. Time to step up to the plate Eric.

Another question: have any player recently represented themselves when negotiating a contract, acting as their own agent?

That would be my assumption. For someone earning as much as them, they should definitely have an attorney on retainer for any number of reasons. But I assume most would see it as a waste of money since their agent is suppose to take care of their needs, which includes getting an attorney *when* one is required.

Most, but not all, agents are attorneys. Babby was one of the better agents and a very accomplished attorney. He defended John Hinkley. Bledsoe's agent is a High School drop out.

i just dont get it, the money these guys make Uber is so freaking cheap if I can afford to take one every time I go out and drink they certainly can and yes Im judging him as soon as he makes the choice to get behind the wheel he is up to being judged. I could care less if he wants to hurt himself but as soon as he puts others at risk I have no sympathy for his ass.

Paul seems like someone riding Lebron's coattails and is now in the business of telling his clients what they want to hear. The jury is out on his delivery. Anyone can work out deals for Lebron. There has to be attorney's doing the legwork behind Paul, otherwise what' does he bring other than the face of a peer for his clients? He's probably ice cream to the likes of seasoned agents and execs.
We'll see what get's worked out for Bled...it would seem that they're trying to scare Suns brass into being hasty. It'll be an embarrassment if he can't get Bledsoe a better deal and ungodly if he takes the QO. The guy has articles written about him despite his only accomplishment contriving his way into Lebron's trust.

This is his 4th DUI? That's definitely not good.

not 4 DUIs...all those "counts" are from the same arrest...just multiple charges...the priors are his past crimes and none of those are DUIs...just speeding and various moving violations

Thought that was cleared up already. Anyway, those are only charges/priors from Scottsdale. I would love to see his ncic check. Who knows how many other charges from other states/cities he has.

yes it was cleared up...but when I scroll through a thread and I see a post I want to respond to I don't then check the remaining messages to see if it's been answered...so maybe relax and realize some of us don't live on this board 24/7 and may overlap some answers

Dude how is this remotely funny?

Is Kerrsed, Tastic or Milko here? How are posts like these acceptable and not breaking the rules and yet posting "K" or "INBL" in a thread (granted that's its on the General NBA board) can result in a perma ban of that forum?

My goodness.

Who do I have to be to judge? This isn't about me thinking I'm better than someone. This is me being pissed because idiots like PJ insist on risking my life, my wife's life, my son's life, my friend's lives and the lives of a bunch of people I don't know. I'm quite willing to sit in judgement on something like this. I've lost too many friends through the years to take the "oh well, we all make mistakes" road. We all make mistakes. Getting behind the wheel when you're drunk isn't a mistake, it's a horrible decision and horrible decisions have consequences - sometimes even, horrible consequences.
