This is exactly why I think he's a near lock to make this team. They're not going to go in with three sub par defenders at the 1, particularly when Coach K likes having his guards press full court.

Not even a question anymore. The entire NBA TV crew, the coaching staff and even the players have been fapping to the Rose all day. The only question now is if he's a captain or not

Rose the six million dollar man? (funny how pathetic that amount seems in today's terms).

In baseball, pitchers that get Tommy John early in their career often do come back: Better, stronger, faster.

But if Rose were to miraculously be improved, I'd still always wonder if the injuries sapped off even more ceiling he might have had.

Then one day he saw the pain and suffering of his people and decided to stop being a King. He left his wife, his family, his wealth and his power. He went and then sat under a tree and meditated for years.

When he finally awakened, he transformed into the Buddha.

I get that they are probably doing it for the sake of his confidence. But people seem to being going out of their way to praise him. That's just what it seems like to me for some reason. I mean that video the last :20 is everyone talking about "how great is D Rose? What adjectives haven't we used yet? I don't know. Maybe it's just me. But it feels a bit forced.

Don't get me wrong. I like that the news is positive, He has missed most of the past three seasons. That would effect anyone for awhile.

Let's just see him get through a season, and I'll be happy.

I doubt they are just going out of their way to praise him. More likely that the media guys are asking these guys about Rose and they are just giving their thoughts.

However I'm sure some of it is fluff. Hopefully he can just stay injury free.

For the record I believe the are honestly impressed with Rose and he deserved the praise. He even sounds more alive in his interviews less mumbling. My question was about the over the top praise. Like it is for some kind of deliberate effect. Just dont know what the goal is with it. Did they talk this way about Lebron etc?

Or maybe I should take it at face value.

He was not comfortable being King but said he would return to the throne when he was 110%.

I'm wary of stories conflating basketball players and people sitting under trees. Sit too long and you might wake up like Rip Van Hamilton.

Tis the question. Older and wiser, or just... older?

Derrick promised similar sage learnings gleaned from sitting on the pine so long before last year too. Hope this time he picked a better tree.

If this praise is real (I get the vibe that it's genuine), I don't think I'll ever wonder. I think these two years have lead him to take care of his body in a way he wouldn't have until near the end of his career. Much like Kobe's, 'I have one last bullet to fire' (actually eating healthy) I recall from years ago. He got to optimal physical preparation as a young man instead of when he was about to start fading as some kind of last resort.

Not to get into a religious debate here, but the guy had the means and the power to help his people, but he goes: "F*** it, I'm just gonna lay under a tree. This will help the needy." ?

To get back to the topic, Thibs is taking a shortcut to the grave by being so intense even at practices.

I like how the coverage has been basically all Rose for team USA. The coverage is then like "oh yeah Kyle Durant and Jerry Harden are on the team too. Back to Rose!"

Rose is smarter than people give him credit for. He knows what the team needs from him and thats what be brings. There are plenty of scorers but if he can bring tenacious D and tempo setting PG play he will make the team, just as in 2010. Thats his niche and I am sure Thibs is helping sell him that way. They already placed him on what most anticipate to believe the starting squad (Harded, Durant, George, Davis and Rose) IMO thats a good sign that the job is his to lose.

Thats why I always felt Rose could really play with any star the Bulls acquired. Whether it was Melo, Love etc. I am sure he would allow himself to be coached so he can mesh.

For supposedly being ultra hard core fans around here, we seem to have an extremely short collective memory.

In 2011 D Rose was running the Bulls offense like a fine tuned machine. He had almost the perfect balance of passing, scoring, and leadership that season.

Let's hope he stays healthy so the new story around here can actually be based on D Rose & his game, not on all the silly sports talk radio gossip.

He forced it against Miami in the 2011 playoffs, was in and out of the lineup in 2012, then forced it again in his comeback in 2013. So it's not surprising that even many Bulls fans are skeptics.

I think he'll be good this year. If not, no excuses. Unlike last year, he now has teammates who can hit shots.

I think he was talking about the end of the 2010-2011 season and the beginning of the 2011-2012 season.

The blip in that period was Miami, but many understood that situation.
NBA Playoffs.... I can never wait!
