We'll miss Thad and the young guys could learn a lot from him.
Who's the leader of this team now?
MCW? The second-year-pro?
Or Arnett Moultrie?
I just don't see it in Bennett, just don't. He's lazy and has too many holes in his game.
We're going to miss Thad a lot.
How exactly is it a horrible deal?
Bennett while underachieving as the number 1 pick last year, was on an underachieving Cavs squad with selfish teammates, a horrible head coach and incompetent management.
Who's to say that he can't bounce back with the right head coach and teammates? I'm not saying that he'll be a star or anything, but he's only 21, and still has a lot of potential to get better.
As far as Thad goes, sure he's been a nice player for us and a good mentor for the young guys, but he's still an undersized tweener with no real position. Plus he's all but certain to leave once he hits free agency next summer.
Hinkie's philosophy is to buy low and sell high. He's getting Bennett when he's at his lowest possible trade value and trading Thad when he's at his highest trade value. Thus I think this is a good deal for us if it goes through.
As a rebuilding franchise, our number one priority has to be acquiring assets/talent first, and worrying about intangibles (i.e. chemistry, leadership, locker-room presence, etc.) later.
