This was actually assuming Monroe would be gone after next year and Amare would be a much better fit with Drummond, much better.
A ton better
So now the ghost of Amare is a better fit than Monroe? Amare who has a career assist rate of barely 1 per game, Amare who's athleticism is non existent, Amare who is 11 years older than Drummond, Amare who's defense makes Monroe's look like Ben Wallace, Amare who hasn't played more than 23 mins per game in the last 2 years.
lol
For one year he's a much better fit mostly because he can shoot which makes him similar to what we need at the position long term. I also expect him to have a very good year and play 25-30mpg.
If Amare's health could be guaranteed, and he was capable of playing starter minutes 75+ games a season still, I would love to have him next to Drummond. I would gladly give up Monroe for him.

The thought of a healthy Amare next to Drummond makes me drool.
I just don't anticipate it'll happen. Something about him leaving Phoenix, one of the best teams for broken down players, just gives me the impression that his health problems are unfixable.
