Bledsoe is so awesome, but I thought Wiggins was the centerpiece of the deal for the Timberwolves and the main reason they basically stopped negotiations with all other teams for Love. Flip Saunders did say many times though that he was interested in getting players to make the Wolves better right now as opposed to waiting around for players to develop, so who knows.
They stopped negotiating with other teams because:
A. GS was not going to include Klay in any deal.
and
B. The Suns didnt want to part with Dragic or Bledsoe.
It was down to a 3 team race, GS, Cleveland, and us. We were the first team out. Then the Wolves tried to play the lying game to force the remaining two teams to better their offers. Klay was never on the table, Wolves put that out there to make Cleveland step up their offer. They made it a little better, but not everything the Wolves wanted, so they then leaked that offer out there hoping GS would now include Klay, but thats when GS walked away from the table.
Now that things havent gone as plan regarding us and Bledsoe, we are making him available to the teams that showed interest in him. We are now putting him out there and trying to get the best deal that we can to help secure our future.
The Wolves idea was to get the best trade they could for Love. It wasnt necessarily that they wanted to make Wiggins a centerpiece, it was all about getting the best value that they could. Many believe that if GS would have included Klay, the Wolves would have jumped on it and taken him over Wiggins. For months the word was that the Wolves wanted to compete right away, instead of spending time developing young players who just might walk away or force a trade, like they have done in the past. They want to compete now and rub it in Love's face that they made the play-offs without him right away.
Bledsoe/Green/Bennett/Young/Suns 1st for Love/Shved/Mbah-a-Moute is a pretty good haul, considering it was for a star that was forcing his way out of town and everybody knew it. Wolves get plenty of young talent that have already developed and have shown that they have skills and can help them make the playoffs this upcoming season.
