ESPN did a poll the other day. 75% said the name should stand. I feel the same way. Todays culture is becoming awfully sensitive. I have a few Cherokee Indian friends that don't even have a problem with it.

It seems to me an awfully lot like some liberal white folks looking for something to crusade against. As far as I can tell, Native Americans couldn't give two flips about it. My guess is that the Redskins are doing more to help reservation life than a name change would.

Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons talked a lot about Charlotte in their NBA podcast today, including getting Rondo to Charlotte for Vonleh and Henderson, which I would think about if Kemba was ok being the primary guard off the bench

sure was weird hearing that much about our team on a major sports podcast. it was mostly Simmons speculating about types of trades that could be made and Lowe then adding analysis about the people Simmons threw in there so it's worth a listen.

Lowe on MKG: so hard to determine his real value, it's probably around the value of Tony Allen. similarly to Allen, yes, he's great on defense but it's just so hurtful having a wing who can't shoot at all. yes, you could assume, if he was moved, that his jumper will improve with time but you can't rely on it happening. MKG's been dedicated though if you walk on the court after shoot-arounds or practice he's always the last one out there working with Mark Price.

what I found interesting is that Lowe called our front office very smart and that they have definitely looked into the possibility of trading for Rondo. don't take this the wrong way. the emphasis is on our FO being the type of guys who would talk over every possibility. it's not that Rondo has been linked to us in particular.

Lance and Kemba already have a connection with each other and seem genuinely excited to be playing together. That alone makes me think Kemba can have a positive impact on Lance and reduce the potential risk for attitude issues.

I don't know if I want to bring in a guy who would disrupt the continuity on the team and the strong locker room dynamic that we have finally developed for a marginal positional improvement.

Kemba showed towards the end of the year that he is capable of being an ~8 assist a night guy while also being a scoring threat in his own right. Lance needs the ball too to be an effective player, which limits the potential benefit of a pass-only PG. The slight improvement in defense isn't really a big deal to me either, we were a terrific defensive team last year and we're only going to improve this season.

Then you add in Rondo's injury concerns, the loss of a team leader and (presumed) quality 6th man, and a lottery pick we haven't even seen play yet and it's looking even worse for me.

We aren't the team for Rondo

The last thing we need is a point guard whose jumpers will be ignored by the defense. It's that easy for me.

But, obviously, there are a ton of other aspects that Simmons didn't think of when proclaiming us the perfect team for this trade. Not only Rondo's questionable contract situation (would he re-sign?), moodiness (although I do like his character) or the uncertainty about his quality of play in the future, but also the fact that Kemba's the leader of our team and bringing another point guard in could damage our chemistry, the fact that a lot of our players become almost unplayable alongside Rondo and we would have to look forward for other trades as well, etc.

I had a crazy dream last night that you guys might find funny. So in my dream, I traveled to Australia to visit Sachmo in his new town, which is in the middle of nowhere, in the outback. So I travel for what seems like an eternity and and finally get to Sachmo's house, which down a dirt road, near nothing. Sachmo, who is a elderly man (around 60ish), kinda like an older Crocodile Dundee, immediately takes me on a walk thru the woods, along this creek/stream, near his house. He gives me a machete. I also meet , his wife, who is an elderly woman. She was sleeping in a hammock. Anyway, next thing you know, Sachmo is down in this creek killing giant snakes - like the size of a massive anaconda - with his machete. There are all kinds of snakes around me, big ones, little ones, in the trees, in the water and also tons of giant insects and other creepy ass ****. I took off running back to his house, then I woke up.

What I learned:
1. Sachmo is an old man
2. Australia is scary as ****
3. I hate snakes
4. Sachmo lives in the middle of nowhere.

This was a true story.

People trying to do something nobody cares about to make themselves feel better about there history. Yes white people did some bad stuff back in the day but going out of our way to do stupid pointless stuff like this now doesn't fix it.

perhaps they are already doing something like this, i have no clue, but if the redskins would donate a % of team revenue to various native american charities, it would go a long way to help. if they are doing that already, super for them, and maybe consider increasing that %. god knows there are a lot of native american reservations that are in desperate need of money.

my sister went to visit the wounded knee memorial this summer when she was out west traveling with her family. she said it was one of the saddest and most depressing things she has ever seen. she said the amount of poverty, lack of jobs, commerce, the begging by kids etc... was staggering.
