Nothing. LeBron is gaining something he's been wanting since the summer of 2010. To be forgiven.

Forgiven for what? For leaving for a better situation after his contract ran out? For wanting to win a championship something he was not going to do with the Cavs at the time?

It seems to me you look at basketball just as a game. It is big business too. Lebron had nothing to be forgiven for.
He did not demand a trade and played to the best of his abilities while on the Cavs the first time.

LeBron expressed regret for how "The Decision" came off and felt guilty for how it made Clevelanders feel (especially young Cavs fans who may have looked up to him). He said he always felt like he'd finish his career in Cleveland, but in order to do that he had to make things right... he didn't want to be hated by people in his home region any longer (who does?)... and so he sought forgiveness and received it.

Don't think the elbow injury was faked. He might have Been distracted during the playoffs but I think the elbow thing was affecting him. When he had a lot of rest he put up good games but with shorter rest he looked affected. SideShowBob one of the most knowledgeable fans on the Player comparison board ( and a Celtic one at that has written convincing arguments that he was afflicted.

I think he's worn his arm sleeve over that elbow ever since that year so it seems believable that he was afflicted.

Even jf he should have still been better

So the man that took your team to the finals twice did not play to the best of his abilities. OK.

We got there twice? Dang, I knew I drank a lot through those years, but I drank away an entire Finals appearance too?

LeBron had one foot out the door during his last season in Cleveland, and especially in the playoffs. The fake injury, the look of disinterest, and the deferring where a major red flag. Everyone at the time was trying to figure it out, so to act like it didnt happen is sweeping things under the rug.

LeBron messed up, and like has been repeated a million times now, its not for leaving, it's for how he left.

He's back now though, and has made his apologies, so we're all good with our hometown son.

Once then. My mistake.

So you are saying the one time that he got to the finals he was not concerned with playing his best? OK

Like I said when I started this thread. My intention was/is not to bash Cleveland, LeBron or the Cavs fans. Just wanted to get some idea of if everyone was buying into his reason for coming back and what is in it for him.
Thanks for your input.

That's really cute and brought a tear to my eye! It all makes sense now. I have seen the errors of my ways.

I truly hope LeBron can win at least one title while playing for Cleveland, as long as it is not at the expense of my team. This truly is a great story that he has engineered and that so many of the fans/media have bought into hook line and sinker. Simply amazing I applaud The King and everyone that worked to make this story into the work of art it has become.

It didn't take much "engineering." James going back to Cleveland was always going to be a great feel-good story regardless of what anyone did. There was no way he could go back to Cleveland and it not be the story of the year.

No. LeBron played as hard as he could in our Finals appearance. Im talking about his final playoff series with the Cavs, which was against Boston. As someone who watched LeBron since his freshmen year in high school it was blatantly obvious that something was different and he was just going through the motions. At the time we just didnt know why. (Collusion with Riley, Wade, and Bosh)

Obviously Im happy he came back home and apologized for the way he did things, but more than anything Im happy that he did things the right way this time. He definitely didnt quit in the playoffs this time around, and didnt have a deal worked out with his next team while was still with Miami. Now, Im of the belief that this deal was worked out much sooner than everyone realizes, but it was still after the season was over.

LeBron is the absolute boss.

Leaves his hometown team and gets hate for about a year, couple of years tops.

Goes on to play 4 straight finals and win 2 rings.

His old team sucks ass in the meantime and reloads with a bunch of really high picks, including winning the last lottery in an almost unprecedented way (as fishy as the Rose-Chicago case), allowing the Cavs to trade for Kevin Freaking Love.

Goes back home and convinces everyone of the "coming home" story, so the whole America is now behind his back even though this really is an even bigger super team than anything he's been part of.

How can you not love the guy?
