Don't see how that makes him tradeable. More dead money means more of a hit when cut or traded.
Regardless, we had virtually no space at the time so I guess he figured he'd restructure the younger back in hopes he'd get healthy.

Base salary moves on in a trade. A number of bonuses were converted to base salary so they could be moved. But because they made all of the salary guaranteed it costs more in the long run.
That's backwards. Check your link again, the base salary was lowered and converted to bonus.
Bonuses - unless they're a future roster bonus or the like - are paid at signing, so they can't just convert that to base since it's already been paid.
