Just imagine if we had a RUNNING BACK!...

Post#1 » by Mister247 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 8:37 pm

Forte is a nice 3rd Down Back for that dump off pass in open field. But when its time for grinding yards, like I said before he just isn't a real RUSHING RUNNING BACK! He excels only when there is a big FAT hole opened up.

We need to utilize a 2nd back that can actually get REAL RUSHING YARDS!

Even WITH a Big lead I still shm every time Forte tried to run. This man is NOT a REAL Running back.

Cutler FINALLY feels our pain...

If we had a 2nd Running back, it would be Great and all eyes and focus wouldn't be on Forte's HYPE just cus he has nice stats.

One of the best Receiving backs, yeah. But we need (At SOME POINT) a Running Back that get us those yards. The Line isn't going to open up giant holes every game or even every other game.

Our Receiving core is just so good (Thankfully) that we have been able to manage IN SPITE of Forte's lack of rush yards.

Since he came into the NFL in 2008, only Chris Johnson and AP have more total rushing yards than Matt Forte. He's also 3rd in yards from scrimmage in that time.

You could not be more incorrect.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Have you watched the last two games? We've played two of the best run defenses in the NFL with two replacement linemen who can't run block worth a damn. Please, stop.

And you're using that Cutler completely out of context. Forte may have had a TD if Allen hadn't made a great defensive play. From the time he was drafted up to last, Forte was the only player we could depend on when it came to offense. Cutler has been way too inconsistent.

And the tackle was only made because Old blocked Allen directly into Forte.

This year, we faced three of the best run defenses in the league so far... small sample size, but he's still outrushing Eddie Lacy who you could say the same about. Eddie Lacy and Adrian Peterson were the two AP All-Pros at the position last year... here's how they stacked up:

Matt Forte
1,339 rush yards, 4.6 ypc, 9 rushing TDs, 74 receptions, 594 receiving yards, 3 receiving TDs, 2 Fumbles Lost

Adrian Peterson
1,266 rush yards, 4.5 ypc, 10 rushing TDs, 29 receptions, 171 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD, 3 Fumbles Lost

Eddie Lacy
1,178 rush yards, 4.1 ypc, 11 rushing TDs, 35 receptions, 257 receiving yards, 0 receiving TDs, 1 Fumble Lost

Conclusion: Forte rushed for more yardage, had more yards per carry, more receptions, more receiving yards and more overall TDs than either of the guys who were "All Pro" in 2013. What's not in the stats is that Forte is also solid in protection when he's not taking a route.

As far as "grind it out yards" go. One thing I'd point out about Monday's game was WHEN he got the bulk of his yards. He had two key runs that picked up big first downs in probably our biggest drive down the stretch. That's anecdotal I know... but watching the games and seeing the context paints a more accurate picture.

We played teams with secondary problems while our receivers are injured. They are keying on stopping Forte, they are really good at it too, and hoping the Bears receivers cant hurt them too bad. Especially these last 2 games

The line is also run blocking terribly. I can count on 2 hands the times my eyes have seen them get a push of any kind lately.

What is weird is the OP constantly asserting Forte cant play, or hasn't been very good in the past. Forte is always a top target for fantasy leagues.

Forte has had his struggles with short yardage but we had really crappy lines. Like many posters pointed out the bears played elite run defenses. If they would have faced the seahawks it woulda been the trifecta.
Forte may go down too often on shoestring tackles but to say he isnt a real running back is fraudulent. He is a 2 time probowler now? There arent many much better than him. If he had a real oline, watch the f out.

Talk about getting obsessive with things. I wonder what Forte did to the OP - run over his dog? Sleep with his wife? Run over his wife while sleeping with his dog?

Either way, this guy has some sort of ridiculously obsessive grudge against Forte, and feels the need to start threads and bring up Forte in just about every damn conversation. While that's annoying in itself, it gets even crazier when you consider that his argument is ridiculous and false. Forte is one of the best RB's in the NFL, and is a multi-purpose back because he can catch AND run. People have mentioned time and time again how Forte's rushing stats are better than the widely-considered best RB's in the game, despite having had a crappy O-line for a lot of his career, and yet this idiot can't seem to open his eyes and see reality. If you don't like Forte for some reason, that's your deal. Just PLEASE stop turning everything into a Forte-bashing exercise, especially when you're so far from correct that it's almost sad.

Found myself watching Forte highlights from his rookie season. Man, he was one cut and gone! I still think Forte is top 8 but after watching his rookie tape it's clear to see he no longer has the same quickness and acceleration.

I thought this was some kind of a joke thread . Forte is a beast when we get him the ball consistently and in a variety of ways . We tend to give him two plays and then not think about him for 2-3 possessions until we decide to give it to him in obvious run situations .

It's crazy to think that Forte could finish in the top 25 all time once his career is done. Providing he stays healthy.

Look FLEET..

First of all... I'm not saying Forte is a Bum!

I'm saying that he isn't a Full out Rushing Running back. Green Bay's Defense isn't that much better than the Bears.
It really isn't. I already knew he was going to have a better game.

The problem is, against better to great Defenses he can't really run. He can Catch and hit that open field but one little tap and he's DOWN!

Overall he's decent but honestly, we still need a 2nd Running back that can get those REAL rushing yards and burst through the Redzone without us having to be creative to compensate for Forte's lack of Rushing Power.

I like Forte but even people that like Forte that isn't being overly bias will tell you the same.

He's a Great RECEIVING Back. But we need an additional RUNNING BACK that can RUN HARD THROUGH PEOPLE!

I'm not saying dump him but we need to get that 2nd RB in here. We may already have one. Time will tell.
